The 25th anniversary of the Atelier franchise surprised its fans with this announcement.
ATELIER RYZA 3: ALCHEMIST OF THE END & THE SECRET KEY
With the Atelier franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, a Koei Tecmo showcase — hosted by Ryza series voice actors and a character designer — announced that the first anime adaptation of the Atelier Ryza games, titled Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout, is in the works. Also shown off were more details on the soon-to-be released Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, and a new trailer for upcoming DLC Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key - Summer Memories.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout will be the first entry in the “Secret” series; set to release some time this year as a TV series. The series will be based off of the first game of the same name. According to the showcase, Emma Yuzuriha of Liden Films will be directing alongside Tomoyuki Shitaya as character designer; working off the original videogame artworks, Yashichiro Takahashi in charge of series composition, and Kazuki Yanagawa will return after six years to compose the music again for a Atelier title.
The anime will also involve returning voice actors from the Japanese cast with Yuri Noguchi reprising her role as Reisalin “Ryza” Stout, as well as Takuma Terashima as Lent Marslink, Hirofumi Nojima as Empel Vollmer, Yui Kondo as Tao Mongarten, and more to be confirmed.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout has already been confirmed to be showing off more information about the anime — during AnimeJapan 2023 at one of the Aniplex showcases. This news must be exciting for new and long-time fans of a game franchise that dates back all the way to 1997. Now with a new Atelier Ryza game coming out on the 24th of March — and the update of collective sales of Atelier Ryza and its sequel Atelier Ryza 2 having over 1.6 million copies sold worldwide — it’s a big month; dare I say, big year for Atelier.
