What can the publisher bring to the gaming table this year?

Bethesda E3 2018 date revealed – Games we want to see

We're four months away from E3 2018, and Bethesda has announced its time slot for the highly-anticipated gaming expo of the year.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is held each summer in Los Angeles, with some of the biggest publishers showcasing top games for the coming year and beyond. Bethesda Softworks has confirmed that its third appearance at the annual expo will be held on Sunday, June 10th – starting at 6:30 pm PT.

Last year, they announced a cracking list of AAA games for Steam PC and console – including Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus – as well, as VR versions of Fallout 4 and DOOM, and a Bethesda games mod program called Creation Club. From previous showcases, we’re expecting at least two or three new games or IPs revealed on stage, alongside additional expansions and updates for current games in their library.

While we sit here at wait for more updates leading up to the event and, of course, the official announcements on stage in June – we’ve highlighted a few games and extras we think might make an appearance at E3 2018.

DLC and expansions

It's almost a dead cert that Bethesda will be announcing new DLC and expansions for a number of last year's showcased games. Prey hasn't received any DLC yet, but a recent teaser on the game's official Twitter page suggests that something could be announced in the near future.

Elsewhere, The Evil Within 2 is yet to include DLC - however, judging by Bethesda's history with the franchise, we should see some additional content arrive soon. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has had two DLC updates since its launch back in October 2017, but Bethesda's season pass - also included in the Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - Digital Deluxe Edition - grants players access to 'all three DLC packs', so expect at least one more announcement.

The Elder Scrolls Online has seen a major expansion in the form of Morrowind and several DLC packs, including the recently released Dragon Bones - and we're certain that future DLC packs will be highlighted at E3.

Quake Champions

null

Currently in Steam Early Access, Quake Champions could move to its 1.0 version within the next few months, and E3 2018 would be a great time to announce it to a mass audience. We're also expecting to see more esports announcements in conjunction with the Quake World Championships - QuakeCon 2018 will be taking place in August, so expect to hear more on prize pools and what's in store.

Remastered games

null

It's all the rage at the moment, so it wouldn't surprise us if Bethesda announced some remasters - bringing classic games back to life with vibrant, up to date graphics for a new generation. We assume that they would target the Fallout franchise, potentially looking at Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

No Skyrim 6/TES 6?

null

After The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim received the special remastered treatment in 2016, it's fair to say that gamers' enthusiasm for a potential 'Skyrim VI' was somewhat lifted. Two years on, many were hoping that 2018 would be the year where Bethesda officially announces the game, or something along the lines of TES:VI. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this E3 will tickle your Skyrim tastebuds - as Bethesda's Peter Hines stated that they're working on "at least two major titles" before TES:VI... sorry folks!
