Sony's PS5 event may hold the answers to Johnston's riddles

Dead Space and Shadow of Mordor writer teases new game reveal

The writer behind two well-received AAA titles has hinted that an upcoming announcement regarding his next project is on its way.

Antony Johnston, a British author who has provided his talents to the nail-biting survival horror Dead Space and open-world action-adventure Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, perked up the ears of quite a few gamers today (June 10th) with a subtle hint regarding news of his next video game venture.

Johnston, who also wrote the Atomic Blonde graphic novel, also referenced that fans should tune into Sony's PS5 showcase tomorrow, which is apparently 'unrelated'.

In his tweet, Johnston said: "As some of you know, I’ve been working on a big videogame for almost 2 years now. In totally unrelated news, you should all watch the PS5 launch event on Thursday."

Reading between the lines of Johnston's tweet, it sounds like a good old 'wink wink, nudge nudge' that gamers should tune into Sony's PlayStation 5 event on June 11th to potentially see the game which he's talking about... come on, he even used an inquisitive emoji for God's sake!

With the teased announcement apparently taking place during the PS5 event, Johnston's next project could well be a new AAA release on the PlayStation 5 - but we'll have to find out whether the game is launching on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One & Xbox Series X, or PC.

Could we see a next-gen Dead Space 4 unveiled by EA, or the third instalment of the man Middle-earth: Shadow series from Warner Bros perhaps?
