Here’s what the awesome they showed at the show
Today, finishing off the livestream shows at gamescom 2022, IGN (presented by Max Scoville) took a look at a whole lot of upcoming indie titles, most of which nobody can deny are awesome.
Fall of Porcupine
Things kicked off with Fall of Porcupine, a story-driven look at healthcare, featuring an adorable artstyle that belies the something darker that may be hidden in the dark. It’s coming to Steam and consoles in 2023.
Planet of Lana
Next up was a short gameplay trailer for Planet of Lana narrated by its creative director Adam Stjärnljus. We saw how to use the planet to help Lana out! No release date was shown, but it’s coming to PC and some consoles.
Mr. Sun’s Hat Box
Then we saw what happens when you steal the titular Mr Sun’s Hat Box, a roguelike platformer about delivering packages no matter what. There was no release date shown, but it’s coming to Steam.
Chenso Club
Swordship
Next was a shoot ‘em up where you don’t fire a shot, with Swordship. Use the enemies own weapons against them by dodging out of the way as they try to blast you, and make them inadvertently destroy each other! It’s coming to PC and consoles in December 2022.
Nobody Saves The World: Frozen Hearth
The next trailer was for an expansion rather than a new game, bringing Frozen Hearth to Nobody Saves The World. In this DLC you get a new area, as well as new Killer Bee and Mechanic forms. It’s releasing on 13th of September, 2022.
Lou’s Lagoon
Then we got a look at Lou’s Lagoon, an open-world adventure game with a unique mechanic — a seaplane! You run a delivery company which also discovers new islands, harvests goods, and solves mysteries, so there’s quite a bit to do! It’s coming to PC, but there was no release date.
Settlement Survival
Leaving Steam Early Access in the near future, we had a detailed look at gameplay in Settlement Survival. Build your settlement from a band of survivors into a bustling township and try to survive environmental disasters that could destroy everything! It’s releasing in October 2022.
Sandwalkers
The next game has an emphasis on exploration, while also being a turn-based roguelike, Sandwalkers. Build a team to face danger and gain the knowledge to resurrect the Mother Tree Umama. There was no release date, but it’s coming out on PC.
The Last Hero of Nostalgaia
With more of a funny tone, The Last Hero of Nostalgaia was shown off, an action-adventure soulslike. Celebrating videogame nostalgia, it takes place inside the world of videogames as it’s beginning to collapse… It’s coming to PC later in 2022.
Gord
The next trailer was for the upcoming adventure-strategy game Gord. With AI-driven quests and a city-builder with survival elements, you’ll have to venture into the forbidden lands to ensure your populace survives. It’s coming to PC, published by Team17.
The Fabulous Fear Machine
Kicking off the spooky block was The Fabulous Fear Machine, its pulp horror style on full display as it detailed some of what to expect. Sow fear, spy on your enemies, and fulfil the wishes of the titular machine. It’s coming soon to PC.
DREDGE
Next up was the cute little boat in DREDGE — until the spooky stuff started happening! It’s a simple game about fishing, selling your catch, and discovering what horrors of the deep are lurking just below the surface… It’s coming to PC and consoles in 2023.
Ghost Song
On a lighter note, we checked in with Blooming Business: Casino, the game where you have to run a casino, no matter how much money it makes you. It looks set to have a colourful cast of anthropomorphic animals, and is coming to PC though it gave no release date.

Frothing things up next was Brewmaster: Beer Brewing Simulator, a game where — you read the title, right? Well, not only will you brew the beer in this simulation, but you’ll also be able to name it and design labels to go on the bottles! It’s coming to PC and consoles on 29th of September.
Worldless
Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop
Then we saw what happens when you’re a great space mechanic in Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop — the clients just can’t wait to reach you! Published by Kasedo Games, you’ll be repairing spaceships, upgrading your workshop, and paying rent before you know it, though no release date was given.
Mineko’s Night Market
Then we saw Mineko’s Night Market, which seeks to celebrate Japanese culture as you enjoy cats. It’s coming to PC and some consoles, though no date was given.
Soulstice
Next was a boss battle in Soulstice, the upcoming hack-and-slash game in a dark fantasy world. It’s over four minutes long and well worth a watch to check out this game in action.
Dome Keeper
Then pickaxes were sharpened for Dome Keeper, a roguelike game where you need to mine for materials in order to protect your dome! But don’t get too far away, otherwise you’ll be late to this game published by Raw Fury. It’s releasing on PC on 27th of September.
Biomorph
Combining two genres in one, Biomorph was shown off next, bringing soulslike and metroidvania together. Rebuild the city of Blightmoor, and solve some mysteries in a non-linear world filled with 16 environments. It’s coming to PC and some consoles in 2023.
9 Years of Shadows
Then we saw how you will have to master the elemental armours in 9 Years of Shadows, an upcoming 2D action-adventure game being published by Freedom Games. Tunnel through the ground, or swim through waterfalls as you try to restore colour to the lands. It’s releasing on PC on 10th of October, 2022.
Kingdom Eighties
The latest entry in the Kingdom series was up next, showing off its new time period: Kingdom Eighties. The mysterious Greed threatens middle America and some brave kids have to save their town. There was no release date shown.
Lightyear Frontier
Finishing things off was Lightyear Frontier, with commentary by community manager Sebastian. We saw some new gameplay from this mech-based farming simulator, as well as a faster method of locomotion than just stomping everywhere. No release date was given.
