Hogwarts Legacy
Over on the official YouTube account for Hogwarts Legacy, the team behind the title delighted us with four 1:12-minute videos showcasing all of the Hogwarts common rooms — Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Today, we're taking a look at the Gryffindor common room.
Courage, daring, nerve, and chivalry all depict the values of a Gryffindor. As a proud member of the house, I eagerly watched the video showing my house's common room in anticipation of the game. But does Hogwarts Legacy's Gryffindor common room share the heart of the house of the daring? Let's find out!
Gryffindor Common Room — How Does It Look?
Walls painted red (not in that way!), hanging banners, chandeliers, and medieval architecture line up the Gryffindor common room beautifully, featuring a high ceiling held up by wooden beams. Natural light flows in gorgeously, and countless portraits line the walls fabulously, giving the entrance to the common room — The Fat Lady — all the more meaning.
The two-floored common room features a staircase by the wall, with a window that proudly presents the house's motto: Forti Animo Estote, or Be of Good Courage.
The Gryffindor common room features countless knightly decorations that pair perfectly with the space's medieval architecture. Flags carrying the proud lion and iron armour are but a few of the decorations you'll see, with countless other banners, magical portraits to gawk at, and even the familiar fireplace from the books, with a shield crest hung on the cladding of the fireplace adorning the wall, and countless decorations we didn't get a close look at placed on its mantel.
Does It Represent Gryffindor?

Absolutely. The decorative armour and banners on the walls perfectly represent the Gryffindor trait of chivalry, especially with the numerous portraits depicting noble-looking women. Whilst we're speaking of paintings, some of them show seemingly heroic persons that fit perfectly with the traits of courage and bravery.
Overall, looking at the Gryffindor common room, I felt jubilant — the house pride can really be felt with numerous flags suspended from the ceiling, showcasing the titular lion and red colours that make Gryffindor what it is. Courage, bravery, determination, and chivalry are really felt in the small details that the design team put into making it feel unique and whole, and it manages to perfectly amalgamate the common room seen in the films whilst also staying true to the description in the books. The final shot, as the Gryffindor protagonist looks down at the rest of the common room, is nothing short of breathtaking and exhilarating, and it really thrilled me to play Hogwarts Legacy.
