Team17’s legendary franchise is back with more mayhem than ever before
Worms W.M.D
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Worms, there’s a new game coming out in late 2020. Worms Rumble will be firing onto Steam PC, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5. Prepare to wiggle your way in real-time, arena-based 32 player cross-platform combat across a variety of game modes.
Real-Time Worms!
There’s no turn-based combat in Worms Rumble. Every round is in Real Time where you will have to be the quickest and smartest worm in order to win. Don’t just stand there while you get blasted with a bazooka, arm yours, and return fire.
Lead designer Adam Findlay called Worms Rumble "a significant rethink around the Worms experience.” We’re sure that if the game is well received by fans of the series then this may just be a new era for the pioneering franchise.
Three Game Modes to become Top Worm
Challenge fellow invertebrates to a Deathmatch, Last Worm Standing or solo and squad Battle Royale modes. The game modes will be up to 32 players, which is significantly smaller than other Battle Royale games, such as PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUND and Fortnite, but is in-line with the maximum 32 worms that were allowed in Worms W.M.D.
Classic Weapons with New Ways to Play
With classics like the Bazooka, Shotgun and Holy Hand-grenade to use at your disposal, Worms Rumble will be a new way to play with your favorite weapons from the classic series.
As well as trying the old favorites, new weapons that will debut in the game, but we’ve not been treated to these just yet.
Destructible Environments
One of the joys in Worms is ruining the environment in order to creatively drop your enemies into the water. Whilst the maps won’t be left in full carnage like the worms games of the past, all the maps will have sections in which will be destructible.
Player Customisations
Like most online multiplayer games, you can level up your character. Earning XP and in-game currency will allow you to unlock and purchase weapon skins, outfits, accessories and emotes! Outfits can include a unicorn, cowboy hat, assorted colors of bandanas and much more, so your worm can be the coolest in the soil.
You will also be able to get XP boosts by taking part in seasonal events, daily challenges and community collaborations. Digging deep to complete these will grant not only XP but other rewards. We suspect these to be fresh and limited-time unlocks of any of the above.
If you’re a lucky son of a worm and have unlocked cool new things, then you can experiment with weapons and gameplay mechanics in The Lab.
PC BETA Starting Soon
Are you excited about the game and cannot wait to get started? Team17 are offering a PC BETA from July 15 for fans of the series. If you want to try it for yourself then you can sign up here.
