By  Bex Prouse - 18th Jan 2024

New to Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash? Never watched the anime or read the manga? Don’t worry, let’s meet some of the characters.

Meet the Characters of Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is the first Jujutsu Kaisen game to be released on both consoles and PC. As an adaptation of the successful anime (and manga) of the same name, those new to the series might be interested in discovering more about the characters. That’s where we at Fanatical are happy to help.

We’ll look closer at the characters confirmed for Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, the techniques you can expect, and an explanation of what these techniques do.

What is Jujutsu Kaisen?

Before I go into detail, let me explain what Jujutsu Kaisen is and what it’s about. Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga series created by Gege Akutami, and it’s currently published in Shonen Jump Magazine. Due to the success of the manga, it was adapted into a highly acclaimed anime produced by MAPPA, with the second season of the anime recently released and a third season confirmed. But what’s it about?

To save the Jujutsu sorcerer, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji Itadori became the vessel of the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. As the first-year teacher at Jujutsu High, Satoru Gojo convinces the higher-ups to stall his execution; Yuji becomes a student alongside Megumi and Nobara Kugisaki. However, not all is as it seems, as the Curses are up to something, and it involves Gojo and Yuji.

The Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash

Now that you have a summary of what the Jujutsu Kaisen series is about, let’s look at the characters confirmed in Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash.

Yuji Itadori

Yuji is the protagonist of the series, and he’s known for his incredible physical strength. Having consumed a finger of the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, Yuji could utilise his Cursed energy in combat.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, Yuji will be a melee puncher character, so if you like getting up close and personal with your enemies, you can always use Yuji’s Divergent Fist technique.

Divergent Fist is a technique specific to Yuji, as his cursed energy has a time lag, which allows one fist to be coated in a thin layer of cursed energy, with a second wave unleashed a moment later. The best way to describe it is as being a two-hits-in-one-punch deal.

His potential ability is High Gear, a passive ability that relies on a high cursed energy level, making it easier for him to dash. This great combination with Divergent Fist will allow you to close in and attack instantly.

Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi is the deuteragonist of Jujutsu Kaisen and a descendant of the Zen’in clan, inheriting one of the most powerful of the clan’s techniques. Born to a powerful member of the Zen’in clan, Megumi has been involved with Jujutsu sorcery and Satoru Gojo from a young age.

Megumi uses the Ten Shadows Technique as a melee combo attacker, allowing him to summon up to ten potential Shikigami (they’re familiars who resemble cursed spirits but are simply made of cursed energy) using shadows.

These Shikigami can then aid him in battle, and using his passive ability, Technique Interpretation, he can counter with them when attacked. This is a valuable ability, as you won’t have to worry too much about your opponents’ attacks. However, while canonically, Megumi can summon up to ten Shikigami, only a few of them may make an appearance in Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash.

You’ll be able to summon Nue (an owl-like creature that can use electric attacks), Divine Dog: Totality (a pair of wolves who can tear Curses apart with their jaws and can even track them too) and Toad (this is self-explanatory, as Toad will use its long tongue to attack). Any other Shikigami have yet to be announced.

Nobara Kugisaki

Nobara is the tritagonist of the series and the third first-year student who joined Megumi and Yuji. Unlike Yuji and Megumi, who have their reasons for becoming Jujutsu sorcerers, Nobara’s goal is simply to live in the city and leave the countryside behind by moving to Tokyo.

Being a medium-range attacker, Nobara uses her cursed technique, Straw Doll, on her opponents. With the Straw Doll technique, Nobara can attack with her signature tools, such as the eponymous straw doll, combined with a mixture of hammer and nails. These tools are imbued with cursed energy, and the nails can be projected through the air with her hammer.

Her potential abilities are Resonance and Hairpin. Resonance is an extension of Nobara’s Straw Doll technique, allowing Nobara to attack her target with cursed energy by using the straw doll as an effigy. Much like a Voodoo Doll, this will enable Nobara to attack her enemies from a distance without getting too close to them.

Hairpin is another extension of the Straw Doll technique and is probably her strongest attack. With Hairpin, Nobara’s nails can enhance their cursed energy output, making them even more dangerous. The best way to describe it is by thinking that any nails that don’t miss can become bombs.

Satoru Gojo

Not only is Satoru Gojo the first-year teacher of Jujutsu High, but he is also a special-grade sorcerer hailed as “the strongest”. It’s difficult to take Gojo seriously, and because of that, he’s a source of stress for many other characters. Despite this, he cares about his students and does what he can to ensure they become stronger.

His title as the strongest isn’t for show, as Gojo is one of the best all-rounders for any combatant looking for an edge. Unlike his students, he has no potential ability and can dominate the battlefield with his cursed technique: Limitless.

But what is Limitless? The simplest way to describe it is that Gojo can distort the space around him, but the only reason he can do this is due to having the Six Eyes, which allows him to see the Infinity in reality. Having both the Six Eyes and Limitless means that Gojo can truly utilise Infinity in a way that can be used in offensive and defensive situations.

For example, he has three signature techniques that he can use in combat. For example, Blue is an amplified technique that can prevent enemies from getting away from him. However, Red will allow him to prevent any enemies from getting too close to him. These are essential to ensure that he can use Hollow Purple, a super powerful attack that, while it may take time to build up, is relentless in its ferocity.

Ryomen Sukuna

Ryomen Sukuna is the King of Curses who resides in Jujutsu Kaisen’s protagonist, Yuji Itadori. Known for his incredible power, Sukuna is feared by humans and curses alike, and Yuji is the first person who has ever successfully kept Sukuna at bay.

Sukuna is a wide-range melee attacker who takes no prisoners. Whether he is facing a friend or foe, his techniques are indiscriminate, and everyone should be wary in battle against him. He can easily blow up the entire battleground, and you must be careful to ensure you can do enough damage to him first.

He has two passive skills: Intimidation and Reverse Cursed Technique. With his Reverse Cursed Technique, Sukuna can steadily heal himself as he counterattacks, regardless of whether he takes damage while performing these counterattacks. Intimidation speaks for itself, and Sukuna can catch his opponents off guard with this.

Maki Zen’in

Maki is a former member of the Zen’in clan and the twin sister of Mai Zen’in. Unlike the other characters, Maki cannot see Curses without the help of her glasses. However, that doesn’t mean that she should be looked down on. Her goal is to take over the Zen’in clan and destroy it, and to do that, she attends Jujutsu High as a second-year.

She doesn’t have cursed energy, and because of that, she doesn’t have cursed techniques, but she has immense physical strength and can still attack Curses with her Cursed Tools. The reason for her strength can be linked back to her Heavenly Restriction, limiting her energy by increasing her strength more than the average sorcerer.

Due to having such a skill with physical techniques and weapons, Maki has a Strike Gauge that she can use to create unique combos. With a mixture of speed and strength, she is a force to be reckoned with and is especially fatal in close combat.

Toge Inumaki

Toge Inumaki is a second-year Jujutsu High student and a classmate of Maki, Panda, and Yuta. He speaks exclusively through sushi ingredients, as his cursed technique prevents him from communicating with others. He’s a close friend of Yuta, and as a member of the Inumaki clan, he inherited their cursed technique.

Using Cursed Speech, Toge can order his opponents to obey his commands against their will. This makes him a powerful enemy, but this depends on who he fights. If he uses Cursed Speech too much, Toge will suffer damage and more damage depending on how much of a difference in level there is between you and your opponent.

When using Toge, you must focus on how and when to use Cursed Speech. Due to this, Toge is also a capable melee fighter and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Panda

While Panda may look like an ordinary panda, he is no such thing. In reality, he’s a Cursed Doll created and raised by the principal of Jujutsu High, Masamichi Yaga. The two share a father-son relationship, and many people forget that Panda is not just a surprising mascot of the school.

Due to being a living Cursed Doll, Panda is powerful and is a skilled melee fighter. Keeping him at a distance might be your best bet, but there’s more to him than meets the eye.

To make himself more powerful, Panda activates Gorilla Mode, which changes his form to that of a Gorilla/Panda hybrid and increases his durability and strength. Gorilla Mode encourages Panda to call upon his brother, Gorilla, who lives inside his mind. He has a special attack, too: Drumming Beat.

Using Drumming Beat, Panda can go on a complete rampage towards his opponents, as it’s an entirely defenceless technique. Your enemies won’t be able to defend against you, and it will provide you with a devastating advantage.

Aoi Todo

Aoi Todo is a first-grade sorcerer and a third-year student at the Kyoto sister school of Jujutsu High. He is seen as one of the most powerful sorcerers at the Kyoto school and is known for asking what type of woman each character prefers. He will destroy them with his power if given a wrong answer that he deems boring.

Using his cursed technique, Boogie Woogie, all Todo has to do is clap his hands, and he can switch the position of anything with cursed energy within his range. Not only can he switch himself, but his allies and enemies too.

You can have Todo dodge attacks or easily close the distance by utilising Boogie Woogie with a mixture of his intense strength and speed. While he may not look it, he’s a genius who can easily calculate what he should do next and can unleash his cursed technique to use it to his advantage.

Jogo

Jogo is a special-grade curse and a primary antagonist in the series. Working with Mahito, Hanami, and Suguru Geto, he wants to create a world where curses rule over humans, believing they are the most authentic forms of humanity. With a volcano-shaped head, it’s clear his power lies in flames, allowing him to burn his opponents.

As a mid-to-long-range fighter, Jogo uses his Ember Insects, which he can summon from the volcano on his head. These Ember Insects emit a high-pitched scream and, upon Jogo’s orders, can explode in a burst of flames, damaging your opponents significantly. These are only part of his innate technique, allowing Jogo to control flames with his mind.

His passive ability is a Cursed Spirit’s Pride, which gives him an advantage, as he believes in a Curse’s power over humans. Not only is he much faster and stronger than he looks, but he can use his abilities to support his allies in battle.

Hanami

Hanami is one of the special grade curses who is an antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen. They represent the fear of land-based natural disasters such as earthquakes and aligned with Jogo, Mahito, and Suguru Geto to eliminate humanity. Their goal is to rid humans from the planet as revenge for the earth and the damage that has been done to nature.

As an all-range attacker, Hanami is an especially dangerous opponent who specialises in ground attacks and has a range of techniques. Their main technique in combat is Cursed Bud, which they launch at their opponents.

Once the Cursed Buds latch to Hanami’s enemies, they will feed on their cursed energy, and it can also cause some damage. They can even unleash multiple Cursed Buds by spawning one giant flower to release them.

However, their Passive Ability is one that you need to keep an eye on as they release the cloth binds around their left arm. Their Left Arm Release allows Hanami to charge the flower on their shoulder to fire a powerful beam of light as they fight.

Kento Nanami

Kento Nanami is a first-grade sorcerer who attended school with Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. While he looks like the average salaryman, he is a skilled Jujutsu sorcerer who, despite his reputation, cares for his students and is regularly irritated by Gojo’s antics.

Nanami is stronger than he looks. He is known as a master swordsman and has significant physical strength. His innate cursed technique is Ratio, which allows him to divide his target with ten lines to create a weak spot at the ratio point of 7:3. Using this technical formula, he can thus increase the power of his critical hits, making him a powerful ally.

His passive ability is Unbound Cursed Energy, which allows him to unleash his power. Once he releases his Binding Vows, he can stop limiting the amount of energy he uses while working on the clock and unleash it upon reaching his overtime hours.

Mahito

Mahito is a primary antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen, a special grade Curse, and the natural enemy of Yuji Itadori. With his allies, Jogo and Hanami, he allied with Suguru Geto to achieve his goal of eliminating humanity and replacing them with Curses. He’s the most immature of the group, and he believes he was born from the hatred humans have of each other.

Mahito is a mid-range fighter, using a volley of attacks to knock his enemies off guard and reduce their strength. With his speed, he can quickly reduce the distance between himself and his opponents, but getting in close can get dangerous.

His passive ability is Essence of the Soul, which allows him to touch the soul of his opponents. He can use this to use his cursed technique, Idle Transfiguration, which will enable him to distort the shape of a soul and transfigure their bodies.

Eso & Kechizu

Eso and Kechizu are two brothers who team up with one another to utilise their abilities. They are both Cursed Womb Paintings, making them powerful Curses that provide a challenge for their enemies.

Their passive ability is For My Brother, making them more powerful when they’re together. While alone, Eso or Kechizu aren’t as strong, they become more powerful when you manage to incorporate each of them.

The cursed technique that the brothers use is Rot, which means their blood is poisonous and has corrosive properties. Using Rot, they can manipulate the blood of their enemies, thus controlling their movements. By utilising Rot, they can create abnormal conditions that drag their opponents down to provide a challenge.

Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta Okkotsu is a second-year student at Jujutsu High and the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen: 0, the prequel film. As a friend of Maki, Toge, and Panda, he is also a very distant relative of Satoru Gojo due to a shared ancestor. As a child, he promised to marry his childhood love, Rika, but she tragically passed away.

However, Rika did not truly die. Instead, she became a special-grade cursed apparition who defends Yuta from home. While Yuta is a close-range combatant who uses his sword to inflict damage, his greater power comes when he summons Rika to the field.

Using his passive ability, Rage, Yuta can summon Rika to attack your opponents should your allies be injured. Yuta is a great character to turn your situation upside down if you’re in a bind.

Suguru Geto

Finally, Suguru Geto is one of the main antagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen and the best friend of Satoru Gojo. The two of them went to Jujutsu High together, being a year above Kento Nanami. He and Gojo are special-grade sorcerers, but these days, Geto is now a Curse User after being expelled from the school.

He teams up with Mahito, Jogo, and Nanami for his own schemes and can use Cursed Spirit Manipulation. To exorcise Curses, Geto would consume them and absorb their abilities to use in battle. Due to his abilities, he is able to summon Curses to the field.

Despite being known for summoning Curses, he is a powerful mid-range combatant who has a habit of toying with his opponents. Using his Curses, he can summon them to turn the battle in his favour.
