Some of the Hardest ELDEN RING Bosses Early Game

You've fought — and were mercilessly killed by — the Grafted Scion, finished the tutorial, and finally been unleashed into the open world of the Lands Between. Excited to charge into battle, you look forward to exploring a FromSoftware title that is unlike any other, and the world is vast, wide, and full of possibilities. Even just under the cliff, you see a menacing mounted figure that might be your next boss to test out your mettle, since you completed the tutorial. And perhaps, you even fought it and got relentlessly killed by it. That was an error, you know it and I know it because we both made the same mistake. Here are the first three bosses you can encounter in ELDEN RING and get absolutely decimated by.

#1 — Tree Sentinel

So, that mounted figure that killed you in the narration above? Yeah, that's the Tree Sentinel, the first actual boss you can encounter and "realistically" beat in ELDEN RING. A mounted foe with armour so thick we're all surprised he can even move his arms so fast, but we let it slide because it's FromSoftware and thick armour is hardly the most unrealistic thing in the game.

Truth is, you should probably just skip the Tree Sentinel until you actually have Torrent; that way, you can have a jousting match, instead of fighting him on foot like a moron as I did.

#2 — Flying Dragon Agheel

Perhaps, unlike me, you were smart enough to explore another area and stumbled upon a lake just east of your starting point in the Lands Between. Innocently searching after killing some bats, a mighty dragon wyvern swoops down from the skies, breathing fire onto everything and turning it all — including you — into a glorified shish kebab. That, my friends, is the Flying Dragon Agheel, the first of many dragon-like bosses you'll face in ELDEN RING. Just like the Tree Sentinel, you'll want to give up on this fight until you have Torrent.

#3 — Margit, The Fell Omen

The first boss you have to kill to finish the game, Margit, The Fell Omen is the boss that all of the guidance of grace indicators lead you to, and he is one tough enemy to beat. Much like the other two, you're not supposed to get to Margit until you have the right level and weapons to do so, which means exploring Limgrave a lot. Still, if like me, you followed the guiding grace like a good soldier, you discovered Margit too early and got decimated.

Those are the first three bosses you can encounter that are sure to kill you at least a couple of dozen times, especially if you do so early in the game when you're not supposed to.
