The supervillain team are getting their own game by the award-winning Batman studio

Suicide Squad game announced by Rocksteady

Rocksteady have been unusually quiet since the Batman: Arkham trilogy drew to a close with Arkham Knight’s release in 2015. We’ve seen rumors of all sorts of action-adventure games following in the footsteps of the Dark Knight, including a Superman title, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles based franchise and a Justice League game.

Today (August 7th), the London-based studio has put us out of our misery with a tweet confirming that the next game will be featuring the Suicide Squad!

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet tw-align-center"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Target locked - <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/DCFanDome?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#DCFanDome</a> - August 22. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/suicidesquadgame?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#suicidesquadgame</a> <a href="https://t.co/HrXZNKwo0f">pic.twitter.com/HrXZNKwo0f</a></p>&mdash; Rocksteady Studios (@RocksteadyGames) <a href="https://twitter.com/RocksteadyGames/status/1291720790447136768?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 7, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Whilst there’s no confirmation on any characters in the game, we anticipate that it will be based upon the comics rather than the film like the Batman: Arkham franchise. The 2016 film featured a supervillain team comprising of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and Slipknot.

However, in the most recent Suicide Squad comic series, written by Tom Taylor and launched in 2020, the team consisted of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, jewel thief Magpie, skilled combatant, and swordsman Cavalier, mutant The Shark and diamagnetism powered Zebra-Man.

As for villains, the only indication of any foes is in the graphic attached with the tweet. This hints that it may be the Man of Steel himself as the main villain of the game.

Luckily, we don’t have to wait too long for more information as the game will be featured in the DC FanDome virtual event on August 22nd.
