The first 5 games we think you should play on your Steam Deck

The First 5 Games To Play on Your Steam Deck

Ever since the Steam Deck was announced, I have become fanatical about finding the perfect games to play (or, in my case, replay) on it. And after a lot of back-and-forths, I think I have finally done it! A game for every occasion. Today, I am here to share with you my personal list of top 5 games I cannot wait to try on the Steam Deck!

Monster Sanctuary

Monster Sanctuary

I’m a sucker for collecting cute things. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of Pokémon games (nor do I own any Nintendo consoles)… so when Steam recommended this title to me, I decided to go outside of the GameFreak comfort zone. I was right to do so, as Monster Sanctuary offers a really cool mechanic where your creatures aren’t just for battle, you’ll also need them to unlock areas in the game! Think TMs and HMs in Pokémon, except now it’s just the creature’s natural ability. They also follow you around in the world, unlike in Pokémon where that's rare. A perfect replacement for those that don't own a 3DS or Switch!

Dead Cells

Dead Cells

Dead Cells is a great option for the Steam Deck because it's a perfect game to burn time while waiting on something (or someone). Beating up enemies in the fast-paced combat whilst having the option to quit and return to the same spot at any time is perfect! It'll be great to try and beat your best run of the game.

Cozy Grove

Cozy Grove

One of the reasons I'm excited about the Steam Deck is the prospect of being able to wind down comfortably and not at a desk. One great game I recommend to take to the sofa while you cosy up and get tired is Cozy Grove; it's an Animal Crossing-like game that innovates on the hidden-object genre. The story centres around helping spirit bears move on and bringing the island back to its glory. The cute soundtrack and pretty graphics will surely help lull you to sleep.

Reventure

Reventure

Reventure is one of those few games that really nails the art of humour and weird comedy. My wife and I had an absolute blast as we explored every bizarre ending and twist of this charming game! This makes it a perfect title for the Steam Deck as completing it will take a while, and what better way to do so than playing it on the go?

Ori and the Blind Forest

Ori and the Blind Forest

If you're not a fan of roguelikes and fighting, Ori might be a better option than Dead Cells. The absolutely gorgeous graphics and stunning soundtrack will keep you entertained and going as you sprint, jump, and dash all over the enchanting areas of this game. It will absolutely make time go by faster on a bus or at a waiting area!

Those are my top 5 games for the Steam Deck. Check out off the verified Steam Deck games that Fanatical stock (list is updated weekly)
