New features in the latest expansion for FFXIV

Get ready for the next saga of the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV Online as the Shadowbringers expansion launches next week.
From July 2nd, players will get to explore breathtaking new environments, encounter exotic new races, master exciting new jobs and fight alongside prominent characters with the new Trust system - as you embark on a new journey as the Warrior of Darkness!
Over 16 million players have enjoyed the action MMORPG to date, and Shadowbringers looks set to entice regulars and newcomers to the mix. Here, we look at the new features coming to FFXIV in the shape of its third major expansion.
New features coming to FFXIV

Two new jobs will available in Shadowbringers - Gunbreaker and Dancer. Gunbreaker is part of the Tank class and grants players access to ability to load cartridges into the Gunblade after successfully completing specific attack combinations.
Dancer falls under the Ranged DPS category and can help temporary boost fellow players' damage and defense resistance.
Shadowbringers also introduces two new races, the Viera and Hrothgar. The Viera are a rabbit-eared race who might be familiar to those of you who've played Final Fantasy XII or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and are female-only.
The Hrothgar are brutish beast-like characters, quite similar to the Ronso seen in Final Fantasy X, and are male-only.
As well as new races and jobs, Shadowbringers introduces new areas to explore - Rak’tika Greatwood, Il Mheg, The Crystarium, Eulmore and Lakeland. Rak’tika Greatwood is a dense forest area while Il Mheg is a bright open landscape with floating plants with a decorative castle sat on a hill.
The Crystarium features huge glass dome structures, Eulmore is basically an empty wastelands with a grand, medieval-like castle hidden away in a rock face, while Lakeland is an open village setting with lavender trees and blossom scattered everywhere.
Other confirmed key features included in Shadowbringers include:
- Level cap increase from 70 to 80.
- New primals & beast tribes.
- New dungeons to explore.
- Challenging new 8-player raids.
- New series of alliance raids.
- New 'Trust System': Tackle dungeons solo while fighting alongside prominent characters.
- New Game+ system: Allows you to relive the adventures from your past with your current level and gear.
- The Restoration of the Holy See of Ishgard - In the aftermath of the Dragonsong War, Disciples of the Hand and Land work together to rebuild Ishgard.
