Why We Are So Excited for Elden Ring

Elden Ring is here! Well, nearly. The newest game by From Software releases in a a matter of weeks, and some of you naysayers may be wondering why you should be looking forward to this already much-hyped game and why it is the most wished for game on Steam. Not to fret, we’re here to tell you why you should be excited for Elden Ring, and why you should pick this game up upon before release.

If you’ve played From Software’s last game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, then you’ll know how far they’ve come in terms of sheer quality. While it’s not like Demon Souls or the original Dark Souls were particularly bad in any notable way, they weren’t the pinnacle of From Software. Judging by what we’ve seen of Elden Ring so far, it looks to be taking everything that From Software have learnt from every single game they’ve made so far, taking it up to the natural conclusion and then adding even more on top of that. The game promises to be at least thirty hours long, and that’s not even discussing optional challenges, optional bosses, hidden lore and everything we’ve already come to expect from Soulsborne games. If you’re worried about difficulty, don’t be. According to the developers, Elden Ring has been specifically designed to be less stressful towards players, while not reducing the overall challenge. It’s the perfect middle-ground for those who’ve found the previous instalments in this genre to be rather unfair and just too cruel for their taste.

Wait, that wasn’t enough to entice you? Demanding, but I admire that. Well, if you’ve ever heard of a little project called Game Of Thrones, you’ll certainly want to take a look at Elden Ring. That’s right, George R.R Martin himself is working on the story of Elden Ring, continuing his now decade long break on the A Song Of Ice And Fire book series. Should he be working on The Winds Of Winter? Probably, but we’re not going to complain if it means we get the dream team of From Software and George R. R Martin working on a video game. From the glimpses we’ve seen so far, we know that Elden Ring is set in a world known as the Lands Between, after the Elden Ring has been destroyed and scattered into shards known as the Great Runes. If the previous work of George R. R Martin is anything to go by, then the lore of this world will be deep and extremely well ingrained into the world.
