Because of the nature of MechWarrior - that being randomized missions - you do not have full control over what you do. As a result, this review will not discuss Careers, as I have not had time to interact with them. Nor will this review discuss the new Hero Hunt Missions. What this will discuss, is what I have had an opportunity to interact with. This DLC brings with it new Weapons and Equipment, a new Biome, new Mech types, and a new mission type - Beachhead. The new weapons and equipment are a welcome upgrade, but the default AI tends to run away when you approach them with the ECM on. This provides you with more time to attack them, and lowers the chance of being surrounded at close range, something helping out softer Mechs immensely. Burst Lasers have become an immediate favorite of mine, as they generate dramatically less heat than regular lasers. Additionally, Chem Lasers are pretty nifty as they trade out the heat requirements of regular lasers for an ammo requirement. All the benefits of lasers, fewer of the detriments of actually using a regular laser if better heatsinks aren't available. The new Mech types are immensely welcome within the game. While I have not encountered all of them, having new Chassis to both fight in and fight against improves variation on the battlefield immensely. Additionally, the new mechs tend to be outfitted with the new weapons, enabling you to experience what it's like to be on the receiving end of new equipment. Another new aspect are artillery strikes. Artillery is not devestating against larger mechs, but does present an annoyance that should be dealt with immediately. The Artillery is often out of the way, placing more of a burden on solo-players who cannot split off from their Lance to deal with it. For the player, the Artillery is an option for you, but not one that I would advise utilizing - the negotiation points can be better used on Insurance or C-Bills as opposed to a tiny bit of extra firepower. Beachhead, however, is my new favorite mission type. This is what I would have imagined a Warzone contract from the base game would be like. In Beachhead, there are numerous objectives to tackle and enemy Mechs around every corner. Side objectives reward you with assistance for the rest of the mission, either removing an annoyance (Artillery) or dropping in allied Mechs to assist you with taking down the enemy. The actual objective is fairly simplistic, but it's great to be rewarded for going all over...

The first DLC I got and it expands the base game quite abit with carreer mode, more mechs, biomes, missions, well worth the money I paid. Also running beautifully with YAML.

Probably one of the better DLC's to the game to be honest, would certainly get it here or when it's on sale in steam.
