About OMSI 2 Add-On Citybus i280 Series

About this DLC

Back in the mid-80s! With this add-on, the player can take control of a completely new Hungarian bus, adapted to work in Germany, allowing him to take a ride through the streets of Berlin and other cities and towns of Eastern Germany. The bus has a length of 16.5 metres, with its engine located under the floor. A thruster rear axle makes it comfortable to move around the narrow streets of the big cities.

During the 90s many buses were re-exported into many ex-Soviet countries. The add-on includes versions made for many cities of some CIS countries (Russia, Belarus).

The Ikarus 280.02 is presented in versions from 1984 to 1987. They all differ in both appearance and interior. The bus has a 6-speed manual gearbox and a six-cylinder diesel engine D2156HM6U, which allows it to reach a top speed of 60 km/h. It is adapted to work in Germany, so the road train signs and head parking lights are missing. Also, it differs in the almost complete absence of window leafs in the passenger cabin (2 per section).

  • Version 280.02 1984-1: One of the earlier versions. The bus has old seats and Trilex system diskless wheels .
  • Version 280.02 1984-2: The introduction of mechanical ventilation over the driver's head.
  • Version 280.02 1985 established a new type of Euro disc wheels and new seats in the passenger cabin.
  • Version 280.02 1986: No decorative moulding on the bonnet.
  • Version 280.02 1987 established a new broad rubber moldings.

A superb manual gearbox and REAL engine braking!

You can drive this using ‘automatic clutch’ enabled in OMSI2 settings. Using the 1-6 keyboard keys will change gears, if you haven’t a wheel/shifter setup. There’s a few ‘toys’ in the glovebox: a small digital clock that sits on the dash, it can be illuminated, displays time, internal/external temp and if I remember, early/late to stops. There’s a CD-ROM that you can put in the player (you put your own music on it) Instructions in the manual. A tape cassette. The same as above and you can also click on the cab curtains to remove or put them back up. Timetable and several variations of tickets and coinage. Download the running boards (no matrix or roller blinds on this!) you can use them on the Spandau map. You have to move camera view internal -F2 and look alongside the seating to see the boards. Click on them to put them on the window placeholders! Nice touches inc (not a lot people will bother with it) looking under the bus (external camera) there’s fully working suspension, driveshafts and linkages. If you lift the flooring in the bus, you will -again- see moving driveshafts, engine pulleys, and gear change linkage. It also were you find the tap for turning on the heated water from the engine to the -The switches are worked by clicking on (hold mouse) them and dragging the mouse left & right. Lastly, my best bit. I stalled going up a hill and the bus had enough momentum to crest it and coast down. I said to my wife I wondered if you could bump-start it, like real life. So I put it in second, let up the clutch slowly and it fired up!! Now that’s REALISM with a capital. How many sims can you say that about. There’s also fully modelled engine braking - no retarder rubbish with this. Drop a gear going downhill and the bus will high rev and pitch forward! Starting takes time, heat the glow plug first in cold weather! *its rickety and NOISY* There’s *one* fully automatic version that doesn’t need gears or driven. I think it’s the 930? So go for it Top it all absolutely dozens of paint jobs for them. Fully recommended
