About Total War: WARHAMMER III - Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs

About this DLC

The Total War: WARHAMMER III - Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs campaign pack introduces a new, powerful race with three Legendary Lords to lead them. The Chaos Dwarfs come with a unique range of units, including Gorduz Backstabber and access to an all-new Lore of Hashut. Furthermore, they have the powerful Great Drill of Hashut which can be used to syphon the blood of Hashut for cataclysmic powers and further expand their empire.

Introduction to Chaos Dwarfs

The Chaos Dwarfs are led by three Legendary Lords; Astragoth Ironhand, Drazhoath the Ashen, and Zhatan the Black, each of whom boast unique campaign mechanics, objectives and units. The Chaos Dwarfs are a completely separate faction from the Ursun storyline in the Realm of Chaos campaign, and pursue their own agenda.

Units & Features

Players can look forward to recruiting Gorduz Backstabber as a Legendary Hero with which to sneak behind your foes. There is also an all-new Lore of Hashut, allowing players to strike down foes with Hell Hammer or set them ablaze with Burning Wrath. Additionally, players have access to the Great Drill of Hashut that can be used to break open Hashut’s domain and siphon his blood for cataclysmic powers. Furthermore, players have a new set of buildings, technologies, and resources to build up their Chaos Dwarfen empire.

Combat & Gameplay Mechanics

The Chaos Dwarfs are a ruthless faction with no mercy for those they seek to conquer. Players can take advantage of the powerful Hell-Forge to upgrade units, send out Convoys to trade resources with other factions, or make use of the Tower of Zharr to gain rewards upon taking control of key Seats. Additionally there is a multi-layered economy centred around the gathering and management of Labourers that players can use to expand their empire and strengthen their armies.

Faction is great but only starts are close to each other.

I've waited years to get my two favorite factions in the game and while Nurgle was a disappointment on release and still suffers problems the Chaos Dwarfs are far from it. While we only get 3 Legendary Lords and 1 Legendary Hero the faction has so many mechanics that it is enjoyable. Only real complaint would be how all the starts in Immortal Empires are near each other they do face different enemies but nothing just expanding in a different direction would solve.

A very well rounded faction. The economy has a few added complexities compared to normal factions (with 4 currencies, Gold, Raw materials, Armaments, and Conclave Influence) as well as incorporating the Dark Elves slavery and Cathay's Convoy mechanics. The dwarven units are tough and hit hard, and the Hobgoblin units are surprisingly effective and powerful for being "cheap" units. The 3 Legendary Lord's are all very satisfying to play, with one having an easier starting point and the other two having harder start positions. The price increase over previous DLC's is unfortunate, but I'd say the DLC is worth it if you enjoy the idea of a race that has a good army, strong magics, and complex economy. You certainly need to think a bit more with this faction compared to some of the other factions.

I'm quite happy with this dlc, it adds quite a lot to the game. I enjoy the challenge of playing as the Chaos Dwarfs with their new mechanics and find them quite formidable as opponents. Overall, a well-made dlc would recommend as a must have.

The flames of HASHUT call. The transgressions and neglect of our ancestor kin must be met with fire and black powder. Pros - flaming cows and something literally called DESTROYER - giant mortars that end all life - goblin khanate with goblin wolf riders that are useful - cool economy that requires some planning Cons - Expensive DLC (wait for sale, plenty of content base game) -Dawi need correctin' - Can be a bit of a pain managing economy before you get it (nothing too complicated) If you love factions with big guns, cool spells and dwarven resilience, this is for you. They also have hobgoblins, which arent total garbage. Decent at acting as a front line while the front like is bombarded by German Paris guns.

The Chaos Dwarfs are a complex and fulfilling addition to Total War: Warhammer. Definitely worth a buy if you can get it on sale.
