! Short Film !
Annapurna Interactive games are very unique. I’ve gained a liking for games they publish. They usually have very appealing visuals accompanied by amazing soundtracks & an immersive story. Plus these games are made by promising indie developers, it’s good that we’re supporting small-scaled game developers!
**About This Game**
! Storyline !
The developers describe this game as an “Interactive Poem”. This just tells us that the game is story-driven. What’s sad is that the game’s story is pretty basic. It’s along the lines of:
This game is about Miriam, a world-class swimmer whose dreams, goals, and life are influenced by her incredibly close relationship with her single mother. The protagonist delves deeply into her upbringing through deeply allegorical and metaphorical means, uncovering, unlocking, and reconstructing memories she loves, barely remembers, and has tried to hide on occasion.
It’s the usual sob story about the protagonist’s relationship with one of their parents. The plot might not sound much & its execution in the game is a bit confusing as there are literally no dialogues apart from the vocals in one of the soundtracks & the Main Character humming in the end. You might find it difficult to comprehend what is happening until you’re halfway through the game. But then, you will realize that it’s the typical mom & daughter relationship story & might be disappointed. What’s worse is that you can finish the game within an hour & it has no replayability rate.
I’d recommend overlooking the basicness of the story & just getting immersed in the visuals & music!
! Gameplay Mechanics !
As I mentioned before, this game is an Interactive Poem. There isn’t much in the gameplay segment to this game apart from clicking & dragging your cursor across some objects or dragging objects. Yeah, that’s all there is. I expected the presence of some puzzles or something similar but it had none.
Most of the elements on your screen are interactable, but it’s easy to figure out the right object to interact with since they will usually stand out from the rest. They might be glowing, have a brighter color, or just be plainly obvious.
As I mentioned in the storyline segment, the game is very short. It spans for about an hour. There are no collectibles or anything that can make the player revisit the game. Hence, it has exactly zero replayability rate. So, the game doesn’t last long & doesn’t have a replayability rate. This is usually a huge red...
