It's not quite as horrible of a game as it's made out to be, but it's still not that good either. The only thing I think I can really say that's good about the vanilla game itself is that the level design is incredible and very accurate to the films. I wouldn't recommend playing this without TemplarGFX's ACM Overhaul mod that fixes many of the game's issues, including the highly lambasted mediocre Alien AI, to a degree, as well as includes many improvements that enhance the game's atmosphere and gameplay really showing the possibilities of the game had it not been shoved out the door incomplete. If you're an Alien fan I think it's worth a play as long as you're using the mod, otherwise it's probably not worth your time.

It's not as bad as everyone puts it... but it's not good either. Only enjoyable if you're a die hard Alien fan since you'll appreciate the details more. I like it as an Alien shoot'em up so with no expectations, it's even good at times. Search for templargfxs mod to make the game better but beware it's a little buggy and developement looks to have seized.

The base game has been well-documented as having issues of quality being less than great, but I bought this hoping to patch or mod out those issues. I also heard the dlc offers a great campaign and scenario in line with some movie lore. I would offer tentatively to get this on sale to see what you get out of it.
