Competently made game, but blatant rubber-banding ruins it

I could tell within the first few minutes of my first race that this game wasn't for me. I did a race with something like 15 laps, and I got bored and felt insulted. After playing my best for the first 4 laps or so, I realized that the AI rubber-banding was anything but subtle. Any time I boosted ahead, it would only last until two or three corners later before the AI would catch up to me and pass me. But then again it would only take another couple of corners before I'd be in front again. When I realized how blatant it was, I decided to test it and drive around at half-throttle for the next several laps. I only dropped back to 6th place (out of 8). In fact, I lapped the 8th place racer a few times. 8th place was an AI racer probably designed to always come in last place. 7th place was a 5-year old playing split-screen with me, who I also lapped a time or two. He's usually pretty competent in arcade-style racing games, but he was struggling to keep up with me and the cheating AI that kept rubber-banding in front of me. It should be noted that the 5-year old also lapped the 8th place racer at least once. Finally, when there were only two laps remaining I went full throttle and started playing my best again. All the 1st through 5th place AI racers were grouped together just a couple turns ahead of me in the track. I passed them all in about 20-30 seconds and won the race. I have no interest in playing a game that punishes me for playing my best, and rewards me for intentionally playing terribly for 90% of the time. The other issue I had with the game was the camera. It follows you, but there's some slight delay when orienting itself behind you. So if you turn a sharp corner, it affects visibility and can mess with your steering. I saw another review which said the camera delay was making them feel some motion sickness. So potential buyers should beware of that. Props to the developers for including local, split-screen multiplayer. Other than that, the rest of the game seems competently and adequately made. Nothing else really stood out to me as either amazing or awful. If you can get past the camera, and don't mind the blatant rubber-banding, then you may really enjoy this game. Especially if you can get it for a dollar or less. But I've spent less than 20 minutes with the game and I have no interest or intention of touching it again, so I can't recommend it.

My Video Review can be found here: https://youtu.be/z8nsyvn1V_Q On one hand we have arcade racing game with several race types, balanced difficulty, short tracks with a lot of action, local multiplayer for up to 4 players and nice graphics that can run even on low specs machines. On the other hand we have many cons here – non-upgradeable cars without statistics, low variety of tracks with too many corners and U-turns, catch-up mechanism along with too aggressive opponents and absence of any power-ups that would make the game more interesting. Pros: - variety of race types - balanced difficulty - local multiplayer - graphics - controls - low hardware requirements Cons: - no upgrades and car statistics - variety of tracks - catch-up mechanism - number of U-turns on each track - no power-ups I was hesitating whether to recommend this game or not but short tracks along with presence of local multiplayer guarantee a lot of family fun so I am giving this racing game Thump Up and VideoGaming Father’s index 7- out of 10, means take it when discounted.
