About Beat Cop

About this game

New York, more like a beast than a city. Explore it’s darkest corners and uncover its secrets as Jack Kelly, a former detective who has been framed for a murder. Degraded and forgotten by old pals, it’s your last chance to find the truth behind this whole terrible mess. The thing is, your new boss treats you like shit, your wife is a money sucking spawn from hell and the local mafia wants your head on a plate. I guess you could say, that things are complicated down here, in the middle of Brooklyn. Oh, and don't forget about writing tickets, reprimanding pedestrians & such. You're a beat cop after all.

NONLINEAR STORY WITH MULTIPLE ENDINGS

Someone framed you and no one gives a rat’s ass about this but you. Turn every stone in this city and find out who did that. The further you investigate the more missing puzzles you’ll find, but be careful. Some things should never be brought to daylight.

THE ESSENCE OF '80 COP SHOWS

Have you ever dreamed of being one of the heroes of cop movies? Of course you did, like we all. Now you have a chance! Be sexier than Sonny Crocket and tougher than Dirty Harry. And if witty comebacks won’t work, you can always do some old school ass kicking. It’s ’80s after all!

THE HUMOR THAT YOUR MOM WOULDN'T APPROVE

Be sarcastic. Be gloom. Be whatever you want. There are thousands of things in this world you can laugh at, and even more you shouldn’t, but who cares. It’s jungle out there baby, and sometimes you just need something to release the stress.

I discovered this game on Fanatical, and thought I'd give it a go; liked it a lot, although I couldn't finish all achievements especially in last mission (was a timing thing I couldn't). But all in all enjoyed playing it and may return to restart it and try and get the rest of the achievements I can.

I don't think it's a bad game but it didn't work for me. The main issue I have with this game is how small everything is. I think when you reach a certain age your sight is not as great as it used to be and you need to focus more to see what's going on. Because of that I couldn't enjoy the gameplay and I can't really judge if it was fun. Take this as a warning though, everything is a bit small on the screen in this game and changing the resolution won't help! The other issue I have with this game is its use of offensive language. They tried to stick to the kind of humor they had in the 80's-90's cop action movies but it aged badly.

You are officer Kelly, a new face around the block, who got demoted to street duty after reporting to a burglary case where a VIP got wasted and you got framed for looting valuable diamonds in the process. In your new duty you patrol one single block on foot writing parking tickets, catching thiefs, and helping out people in their distress. On the side you may (or may not) run errands for the mafia and/or the street crew. The chief has given you 21 days to prove your innocence by finding and returning the diamonds. That means you are on the clock. In addition, the cop you'll be replacing and who serves as your tutor through your first day, ends up biting a bullet in a pool of his own blood at the end of your shift. Doesn't really improve your odds of clearing your name. The gameplay happens one day at the time which takes about 20-30 minutes real time. In the morning briefing you get the objectives for the day, and you'll patrol the block from 8am till 6pm. At the end of each day you'll get a rundown of how your day was and you'll receive your daily salary. Get occupied with other errands and forget to take care of the police business (like writing assigned number of tickets for the day or tracking a suspect) will earn you a pay cut so try to pay attention to the clock. Pixel graphics are clean, and the point'n'click interface is okay once you get used to it despite of a few occasional glitches in it. Sound department is mainly just some decent background music. The game is a tribute to 80's cop series and the humor hits the mark in my book having provided me with a few good laughs.
