Critic Reviews

Polygon

70 / 100
"It's the same recipe that's driven two full, long games and a host of downloadable content. But the lark of low gravity proves that the tedious parts of previous games don't...

GamingTrend

75 / 100
"While it probably should’ve been DLC, it’s still more Borderlands fun for anyone starving for more Vault hunting action."

Gameplanet

85 / 100
"While the game play additions do mix it up slightly, the game often feels like a huge expansion rather than a stand-alone release."

Borderslands prequel is a great addition to the borderlands universe

More Borderlands mayhem, but all a bit dull, boring and flat.

More run and gun shooting action, but this time, it all feels a bit flat. Dull and boring with literally no atmosphere, the graphics, even with the HD texture pack, are nothing special, and the writing and humour is poor. Combat is too easy or too hard and because of the dumb inventory system, it’s more of a chore to get through the game than the entertaining fun it should be. The pacing and quality of the game fluctuates dramatically from all out carnage to dull similar looking areas which you constantly have to back track through, and by the end of a session, I have little desire to play more. The Claptastic Voyage is more interesting to play, but suffers from the same problems as the main game – long boring traversals, far too many flying enemies, and poor balance of loot and progression. It’s better than the main campaign, as it’s a bit more inventive, but still could have been improved.
