About Dead Island 2

About this game

Los Angeles is in quarantine and the military have retreated. Only you, and the handful of others who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, holds the future of the city (and humanity), in the balance.

Dead Island 2 is stylish, vibrant and flooded with zombie infection. Explore iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles. Meet larger-than-life characters. Slay countless foes in exquisitely bloody detail. And evolve to become the ultimate Zombie Slayer!

FEATURES

Explore HELL-A – Dead Island 2 takes players across the most iconic locations of the City of Angels, now stained with horror, in an exciting pulp journey from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach.

Brutal Melee Sandbox – Combat delivers the most intense, visceral and gory first person experience possible, with plenty of weapons and tactical (and brutal) options to chew your way through the zombie horde. Whether you’re slicing, smashing, burning or ripping, we want you to truly feel it.

Be the Ultimate Zombie Slayer – There are six characters to choose from, each with their own unique personality and dialogues. You can fully customize the abilities of each Slayer, with our brand-new skill system allowing you to re-spec instantly and try out the craziest builds.

Zombie Infestation – Ready to experience the most advanced dismemberment system in games? Our LA is crawling with zombies that look and react realistically. These mutated wretches are the reanimated, rotten heart of Dead Island 2 with dozens of distinct zombie types, each with their own mutations, attacks and hundreds of visual LA-themed variants. Our monsters are relentless, challenging, and true Los Angelinos. Will you be able to survive?

A Cinematic Co-op Adventure – As a proper RPG experience, Dead Island 2 offers plenty of exciting quests, a crazy cast of characters, and a thrilling pulp story, to truly immerse you in its twisted universe. Re-playability is guaranteed. Add an over-the-top co-op mode for up to three players, and you’ll stay in LA for a very long (and gory) trip.

For customers in Germany - Once zombies are defeated, players can no longer deal damage to or further dismember zombie corpses. USK players can play co-op sessions with international players through friend invites and joining friends. For public matchmaking, USK players can only play with other USK players.

Graphics and physics are fascinating. The new Gore feature is just amazing in my eyes. Story could be a bit longer, but it's good written. And the side quests are more "story" like and not all the same "get me this and that" for the 100's time. If you like games in a zombie apocalypse, it's definitely worth the buy.

Recommend it, worth buying if you liked first Dead Island.

The first Dead Island was already fun, although after a few hours the routine sets in - collecting resources, pimping weapons, hitting things. The level design and the characters are the best sources of variety. L.A. looks realistic, the dismemberment of the zombies can be done in various ways, which is fun despite the routine. The fact that they respawn constantly can be annoying. The key assignment is not optimal at first (I found blocking with ALT problematic), but that's complaining on a high level. The game runs smoothly for the most part, has a motivating, sometimes humorous story and there is a lot for the eye. I keep forgetting about the quest and thinking to myself "wow this light incidence/ rubble pile/ backyard looks totally good/ real, especially with RTX. The game mechanics + controls are very similar to the first part, which still works well except for some minor details. I would have liked to see such an implementation for Battlefield Hardline, of course with humans instead of zombies. Conclusion: It's worth the money. Those who liked the first part will also be happy with Dead Island 2.

It's good. Better than the first, which wasn't that good. Better combat but don't like the stamina bar. A lot of things to do. Funny dialogue. Good graphics. Nice map(s). Decent gameplay. You don't fall over with the slightest touch like the first game. Easy to get used to. Some of the finishers get repetitive. Overall good.

Awesome game, worth playing now even if it's on Epic.

It's an awesome game. There isn't a full parkour system like Dying Light but I don't mind, the way it's designed is designed well. It feels open world-ish but has a metroidvania feel to it that I like a lot. The weapons are cool and unlike DL you can keep a weapon forever as long as you have the cash to fix it and upgrade it to match your level. Mods can be removed and changed without any degrading of the weapon. What I like the most is that the lighting looks just like Raytracing but it is 'pre-baked' apparently, and I can play it at full 4K resolution on my RTX 3090 without making the fans turn on hardly at all... something that a lot of games can't do on a 3090 that feature dynamic Raytracing. I often have to play at 1440p with other games because of how demanding Raytracing is.
