About DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT

About this game

Developed by KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and published by 505 Games.

After a nearly-apocalyptic event known as the Death Stranding opens a doorway between the living and the dead, you'll need to take control of Sam Porter Bridges, a porter that delivers cargo across the broken and BT-infested America! Though, you might find your role in this world to be far more significant than you initially expected.

A Broken America

The Death Stranding has broken the United States of America and infected most of its terrain with BT — terrifying and invisible dead creatures that were stranded in the world of the living. Take control of Sam Porter Bridges and deliver packages through this mysterious and unique take on America, including the terrifying BT, the essential BBs (Bridge Babies), and even the all-consuming Timefall.

Map Your Journey

Map your ideal path through the world to deliver the goods in the best condition you can. Will you take the shorter path and pass through BT-infested regions or take the long road and risk the Timefall decaying at your equipment? Your choices are crucial to the state of your equipment and the cargo that you carry.

Undertake the Journey

Explore breathtaking landscapes of the post-apocalyptic US and embark on long treks across large canyons, vast green lands, and even deep forests.

Reconnect America One Step At A Time

Undertake the quest of a lifetime and reconnect all of America to ensure that everything can return to normality — or at much as it can in this post-apocalyptic setting. Meet a curious cast of characters and explore a mysterious tale signature of Hideo Kojima.

Social Strand System

Help out other porters by offering advice on routes, leaving valuable supplies, or even assigning cargo for others to deliver for you. The Social Strand System connects you with numerous other players across the world, where you and the other porters will be able to contribute to making America a more traversable environment.

DIRECTOR'S CUT

Reconnect America with DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT, including brand-new upgrades, such as a high frame rate, a dedicated photo mode to take pictures of the gorgeous vistas, ultra-wide support to truly immerse yourself in the story, and even cross-over content with one of Valve's most beloved franchises, HALF-LIFE, and CD PROJEKT RED's Cyberpunk 2077!

Cool story, great graphics, atmospheric etc. But I have not played a game that disrespects the player's time more than Death Stranding. Hours and hours of basically pushing the left stick forward with minimal skill required. I still finished it because it is addictive as hell but the 160 hours it took to finish the game could of been edited down to 40 hours and then it might of still been too long. And! This might seem like a minor thing but there is NO MUSIC. Well, there is and there isn't. There is a long list of killer tracks in the game but they play ONCE at dramatic moments and then never play again. There is no option to turn on background music, not even a mod the save the day. If you choose to take the plunge into Death Stranding then you can look forward to silently driving a vehicle with over simplified handling (no skilled required) for tens of hours at a time. The monotony is mind numbing. They say the sequel is a lot more like Metal Gear Solid 5 and that would be very, very welcome. I'm intrigued to see if the series can be saved because the atmosphere and world building are very good.

Absolutly amazing. Only issue is that they is a noticeable lack of music being played even though they have an amazing soundtrack. It "was a design decision" "so you don't vibe out too much and you feel how abandoned and alone your character is in the world"..... But anyways it's an amazing story, not too anxiety inducing, and has amazing personality and views.

Don't expect only walking, the path to the objective is entertaining.

My expectations where that of a walking simulator with a story on the background, thats what I thought of the first hours of gameplay. But, what the game does nicely is adding layers of elements and resources for the player as he progresses. You start walking around a chasm and wasting 5 minutes, and end up jumping with your motorcycle over a ramp someone else built for everyone.

I have not completed much of the game, but it has been very entertaining. I wasn't sure what I would think about it, but I have found it very fun traveling and exploring and picking up packages.

I'm 60 hours into the game and I'm still refusing to use Zip-lines. Inventory management will never be the same again.

The core game is stuck an interesting idea. It boils down to a walking simulator, but it's much more ingesting than that. Roaming the game world and delivering packages while trying to figure out how to get around environmental challenges is far more interesting than it sounds like on the surface, and it's easy to get caught up in writing that. The asymmetric online component adds a fascinating layer to that, interacting indirectly with helpful objects and structures other people have placed in the world, and leaning your own for them to use and appreciate. It's all great. What lessens it for me is the supernatural and combat elements. Having to go stealthily or enter into combat from time to time just distract from the relaxing world traversal. It'd be tough to sell the game concept without some kind of conflict, but these really drew away from what I liked best in the game. Overall, it's such a novel type of game that it's bound to be hit or miss for people's tastes, but it has the potential to land so well that I recommend everyone give it a try.
