About Dune: Awakening

About this game

Dune: Awakening is an epic Open World Survival RPG where you get to fully immerse yourself in the legendary world of Dune.

You have been chosen by the Bene Gesserit to go to Arrakis as their agent, to uncover the mystery of the missing Fremen. Visit locations such as Arrakeen and Hagga Basin and meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, as you unravel an epic Dune story never told before: yours.

Whether you prefer to play alone or together with friends, Dune: Awakening gives you the opportunity to explore a vast, open world Arrakis brimming with secrets to discover, stories to investigate, and the opportunity for you to rise from survival to greatness.

Avoid the roaming sandworms. Seek shadows to stay out of the scorching sun. Study the slow blade or learn to master the powers of the Bene Gesserit. Build a modest home or a massive base and decorate it to reflect your character’s unique personality. Climb mountains or craft your ornithopter and take to the skies. The choice is yours.

Dune: Awakening gives you a living, breathing Dune on a scale never seen before.

EXPLORE AN IMMERSIVE, OPEN WORLD DUNE

Explore a dynamic and immersive Arrakis, from the vast sand dunes of the Deep Desert to hidden Fremen caves and the bustling city streets of Arrakeen. Climb towering mountains with the Shigawire hook and fly across sandworm-infested sands in your own, crafted ornithopter. Witness massive sandstorms towering above you as they sweep across the landscape.

DUNE AS YOU KNOW IT, WITH A TWIST

Experience an epic, cinematically told Dune story that asks the mind-bending question: what if Paul Atreides was never born? What would be different? Meet familiar characters from the books and movies including Duke Leto and Feyd-Rautha, investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Fremen, and discover the truth about your own past. Join the Atreides or the Harkonnen and rise through their ranks as you explore their unique stories.

MASTER SURVIVAL UNIQUE TO ARRAKIS

Seek shadows in the scorching heat of the day. Craft a stillsuit to reclaim your bodily fluids. Look for wormsign or risk being eaten by Shai-Hulud himself. Arrakis is a test, and to succeed, you must uncover the secret knowledge of the Fremen and study the teachings of the Schools of the Imperium to unlock a powerful repertoire of abilities, weapons, and tools.

BUILD YOUR DESERT, YOUR ARRAKIS, YOUR DUNE

Carve out a piece of Arrakis for yourself. Discover unique resources to mine and craft hundreds of items, armors, gadgets, vehicles, and base parts. Build and decorate a modest home just for yourself, set up an efficient spice refinery with your friends, or construct a massive seat of power for your guild. Scavenge, craft, build, and trade your way to fortune.

FREEDOM TO PLAY YOUR WAY

Play alone, with a handful of friends, or head into the wider world filled with hundreds of other players and engage in the politics of Arrakis. Unlock powerful new abilities to become a master of hand-to-hand and ranged combat or pursue the life of a planetologist, surveying Arrakis and uncovering its ancient mysteries. You decide how to spend your time on Arrakis.

As of 7/4/25, the game is somewhere between barely playable and not in great shape. It seems to have been released in Beta rather than as a ready to play game, and patches will fix some things and break others and/or seemingly randomly change things like cooldown times requiring sudden and unexpected change in tactics, and overall the game just feels like no one tested it before actually releasing. For example (most of these are from patch notes or personal experience): - Sudden lag spikes resulting in rubberbanding can occur with no predictability, at best making travel temporarily difficult or impossible and at worst resulting in death and possibly loss of entire inventory if eaten by sandworms (though the frequency of the lag has improved since release) - Players finding ways to grief and kill in pve zones by using ornithopter collision to force another flying vehicle down to the planet's surface where a worm will eat it, or place bases in such a way as to create an obstacle in a path or in endgame make a resource node inaccessible - Enemy corpses disappearing, though I only observed that today so far - Until recently (supposedly it's been fixed), respec of abilities caused a loss of a skill point, which are finite. Patch notes didn't indicate if players would be refunded missing skill points and if so, when or how - Devs do not reimburse equipment lost due to game malfunction (as opposed to death due to player actions, where equipment would not be reimbursed. Other than dying to sandworms, only resources are dropped, but in the case of the latter, the entire inventory is wiped). - Issues with vehicles such as difficulty entering in emergency situations (read: to avoid a sandworm attack), and the fix apparently has caused some players to have the opposite trouble, getting stuck to a vehicle or otherwise unable to escape its vicinity - lack of basic QOL items for crafting, such as a way to label or otherwise distinguish containers, though the fabricator does pull resources out of boxes and there is a button to quick store all items or resources that match a box's contents - Boxes have a significant weight limit (as opposed to size, represented by the number of slots) with the result that the smallest box with 10 slots cannot hold two full stacks of most resources, leaving the other 8 slots unusable or requiring constant adjustment as the weight of each stack changes - Large changes to framework of game, such as massive reduction of pvp area and...

Generic survival game, with generic gameplay through a generic "Ubisoft map". Game is unstable and can crash, especially if you use frame generation. A terrible lacking of QoL and endgame loop. And don't be fooled by the fans of the game: this game HAS MANDATORY PVP (including griefers) if you plan to reach the last tier of gear.

Not a Good Game

I can see if you like the Dune Series or whatever you call it, "Dune Life", then you will probably like this Game? I personally haven't seen the Movies and really didn't enjoy the Game. The one thing, the soul reason I wouldn't suggest this game is that the MOBs spawn back while your looting the Underground Labs or whatever they are... nothing pisses you off more then Clearing the Underground... exploring, looting... barely had enough Darts to get in and Clear it, then they all spawn back on top of you lol. Also, I get that Vehicles break down, need repairs, but Why do I feel like I don't even want to drive my Vehicles because it too annoying to Fix them lol... But, you can "Poke Ball" your base and throw it out somewhere else on the Map ... so... there's that I guess lol.
