Ghostwire: Tokyo

I'm a big weenie so most horror games I pass on. But I was intrigued enough from gameplay trailers and the idea of ghosts in Tokyo. There are some jump scares, but not as bad as some other games. There's enough fighting and exploration involved that it feels closer to the kind of sandbox games I love to play. (I'm still trying to master the various fighting techniques though! Especially when you down an enemy and can then quick remove the heart.) ...I do however try not to play at night otherwise I get bad dreams because, again, I am a weenie.

I had a blast with Ghostwire. I know a lot of people aren't, for one reason or another, but that doesn't factor into any of my feelings about the game. I played on Hard Mode, so maybe your experiences will differ from mine. I'll preface by saying that I love games that give me the freedom to just explore and take my time in the world, if I can just be set loose in a game and find fun in the world itself, I am going to. The city in this game has so much detail put into it, it's fantastic. There are collectables and items hidden everywhere and, for me, the hunt to track them down is a lot of fun. Traversal is great. You can vault over obstacles, climb onto rooftops and glide from one to another, there's even creatures that you can grapple onto to get you where you need to go faster. The verticality, along with some underground and interior areas of the city, adds a lot to the exploration and discovery. Combat is fluid and fun, very fast paced. You'll have three elemental attack abilities, each with light and heavy attacks, to choose from. Each ability functions differently. Wind attacks are mainly good for one on one fights or singling out one enemy from a group, the charged attack will send a volley of energy blasts to any enemies you're aiming towards. Water attacks are great for groups and the charged attack has a ton of AOE and knockback. Fire has the ability to pierce shields and enemies alike, the charged attack will cause an AOE explosion and toss enemies around. Abilities can be swapped very quickly at any time, so mixing and matching is simple and clean. The bow is great for long range shots and clearing corruption, I'll admit that I forget I have it a lot of the time... Along with the elemental powers and the bow, you'll gain access to charms that have varying effects. Stun charms will lay an AOE paralysis trap effecting any enemies that are caught within or enter the radius after it's used, great for getting behind for a quick purge. Thicket charms put out an ethereal shrub to block line of sight and hide you from enemies. Distraction charms are used to attract enemies to certain areas or get yourself out of tough situations. There is a charm that reveals enemy cores to expose their weakpoints for quicker takedowns. Stealth is also a viable tactic as you can use quick purge takedowns to destroy distracted/unaware enemies. I bought the game because of the location and can say guys and girls did great job recreating Tokyo. Gameplay is fun even after a while does get repetitive. I had fun just goofing around. Main story in the game should be longer and more interesting but overall good game.

If you’re into Japan and its lore this game is a definite yes. The graphics are pretty and the game has a unique style. The map is large but dense, with recognizable areas. While combat is a bit limited in some respects, it is still enjoyable and the game has a variety of unique enemies. The more I play the more I like it.

Really solid game. Visually it's good looking, they did a good job adding a lot of detail to the environment. The controls are pretty intuitive, but can be a little less responsive than you'd like. The biggest complaint I have is that the enemies are pretty repetitive, you don't technically have to fight them, but if you want to level up at a decent pace you're gonna be fighting a lot of faceless guys with umbrellas

I am happy that Tokyo is realistically reproduced in this game. The graphics are very nice and the gameplay is satisfying.

Freaking love this game. I normally hate open world type stuff but this has just the right amount of spooky and weird and fancy looking combat to make it worth it.

Really underrated game. It's a bit of a collect-athon but honestly it's really a fun openworld with quirky moments. (It has tons of Shibas and Tanukis, need I say more?)
