About Hell Let Loose

About this game

Developed by Black Matter Pty Ltd and published by Team17.

Hell Let Loose takes a different approach to World War II. Instead of a singleplayer campaign, players are thrown into a 50 vs 50 experience, where the comradery and chaos of war are emphasised. This game will demand teamwork and communication if you hope to not only win but also survive.

Experience History

Not only will you have the opportunity to participate in iconic battles of the Western Front — such as Omaha Beach, Foy, and Carentan, among others — but you will do so against a dynamically evolving front line. Not to mention the historical vehicles, weapons, and uniforms that serve to deepen the immersion!

Land of the Brave

In Hell Let Loose, you'll find over nine maps, all modelled on authentic reconnaissance images and satellite data, creating fantastic battlegrounds for epic warfares. You will fight across fields, bridges, forests, and even towns, each one offering an important resource that you will need to achieve victory.

Show Off Your Expertise

In Hell Let Loose, you can't rely on having a high kill count — you'll need actual skill to win these battles, as allies and foes alike will be dismembered by your bullets, and the ballistics and recoil patterns are true-to-life. In order to honour that skill, the game has player progression, which unlocks new uniforms, loadouts, and other customisation options that allow you to show off your experience.

Find Your Role

There are 14 unique roles in total that you can master, which include: Officer, Medic, Machinegunner, Commander, Crewman, and Sniper, among others.

Frequently Updated

Aside from everything Hell Let Loose already has to offer, the game is constantly updated, adding new maps, weapons, features, and fixes.

Hell Let Loose is fundamentally and mechanically a fantastic game for those looking for a hard-core squad based milsim. It's quite a niche game, but it fits its niche extremely well. It's punishing to those who don't adhere to the at times brutal mechanics; low time to kill, devastating artillery, well encamped and coordinated enemies etc. The maps are huge, and seem to me to be quite historically correct to the second world War. Set in famous locations such as Saint Mere Eglise, Carentan, Kursk and Stalingrad, they (along with the brutal mechanics) really do manage to capture the feeling of war and provide for constantly moving and fluctuating frontlines, with no two gunfights ever being the same. If you do play HLL, I highly recommend getting (if you don't have already) a headset and microphone, as communication is a key element to gameplay. Though I will warn those unfamiliar to this genre of FPS game, to do your research before you buy. Find gameplay clips online, and see if this is the right kind of game for you.

A very good and fun ww2 shooter. Gives a very authentic feel that you're taking part in a grand battle inside a wider conflict. No silly out of reality gizmos such as red dots, or suppressors on every gun. Game balance is slightly asymmetrical with historical themed loadouts for each of the current three sides, although some late war weapons appear a bit too frequently (stg 44). Vehicles and artillery play a valuable role yet require teamwork to be truly effective. Pros: - Large player base of mixed skill -Great gameplay, especially with organised teams -Large range of cosmetic customisation -Variety of Load outs -Detailed maps -Vehicles -Great Graphics Negatives: -Communication and organisation differs per server -Low Render distance -Urban areas are often closed off -Performance Neutral: -Would be nice to see some unique scenarios (Fallschirmjäger, 101st, Soviet Guards) with more exotic loadouts. -More maps and addition of other factions would keep the game fresh (British + Commonwealth,French,Italy and Minors). -There is a limited vertical movement system which could be improved but isn't game defining imo. -Inability to mark or interact with maps whilst waiting to respawn / pre match.

Good game, Still long ranged, but much more close quarters than Squad. Also lots of close area combat areas, such as towns, in some maps.

See you on the battlefield, brethren in arms! Do not forget to equip your mic. Pros: + realistic fps + movie like atmosphere + great visuals + breathtaking sounds + great community + accessible warsim + different voice channels Cons: - no tutorial (read the community guides) - you need 6 cores CPU (I have 4 cores, 4 threads and it stutters a bit on low settings) - you need a Squad leader with experience - be ready to die a lot

This is what a mil-sim shooter should be, not overly complicated (looking at you Squad and Arma) and not full on Battlefield/Call of Duty mode. Would highly recommend for those looking for a WW2 fix, there are no weapon upgrades, kits are period accurate and guns all feel solid. KD ratio is useless, chase the objective and overall gameplay more than personal stats and you'll have a great time!

Great game for MilSim and WW2 game fans alike. Very similar to Squad and Red Orchestra, with its difficulty being a blend of these two. My biggest gripe is that most players don't tend to communicate. While in Squad(game) you will hardly find a server where noone uses voice chat. But it has a very stable player base, which sadly usually isn't true for these games, so you won't have a problem joining a full server.
