About Hellpoint
About this game
Hellpoint is a dark and challenging action RPG set in a heavily atmospheric sci-fi universe where the line between science and occultism is blurred.
Once a pinnacle of human achievement, the Irid Novo space station has fallen. Its ruins are now overrun by cruel interdimensional entities acting as puppets of the malevolent Cosmic Gods.
You have been created by the Author, organically printed on Irid Novo and sent on a mission to find out the unholy series of events that led to the catastrophic incident known as the Merge.
Irid Novo is a massive interconnected world full of mysteries, hidden passages and secrets within secrets - all for you to explore in any order you like. More dread and shivers await you as you travel deeper into the darkest corner of this forsaken colony.
Dozens of melee and ranged weapons and armor pieces to suit your playstyle. Every weapon has unique special abilities that unlock the more you fight with them.
A fascinating new sci-fi universe is reminiscent of classic sci-fi movies, set in the aftermath of a massive quantum cataclysm and complete with a deep lore and goosebump-inducing soundtrack.
The space station orbits in real time around an ominous black hole that triggers various dynamic events such as boss appearances, horde assaults as well as modified enemy stats and positions.
If you are struggling, ask a friend to press Start to join in a couch coop session, or call for assistance online. The entire game can be completed uninterrupted in coop. The loot is shared, and the experience of local player two is saved and not watered down.

This game is like Dark Souls 1 and Doom 3 had a baby!

This game is like Dark Souls 1 and Doom 3 had a baby!
+ Extensive, interconnected levels. Interesting and diverse levels. I am on my second character and already found a whole different area, another door to which I need the key and whole lot of shortcuts back into known areas (playthrough #1), you can NOT teleport to breeches (they are like bonfires) but there are items that give you the ability to activate travel for one breech at a time. Some people are complaining about that, but there are many of these items hidden behind secret doors, breakable walls and just in the rest of the world. The DLC also added a way to farm them from an enemy-type!
+ A fair amount of different enemy-types, some of which are used as bosses. The main-bosses are all unique and fun to fight! The DLC adds quite a bit onto the table and even has hidden bosses.
There are also events that happen at set times every "day" on the station where you can encounter hordes of enemies, you can get nice rewards from these events just check the surrounding area for the loot!
+ Weapons are a little bit different than other games, you can level them up (not upgrade, thats a different mechanic) and they unlock multiple bonus effects, for example +6% health, grenade-launcher round, reduce weapon weight and more! Yes you can unlock new abilities!
+/- There really could be more weapon variety (the DLC added some more) and the scaling should be easier to understand, there are upgrade-chips which you can use to alter the scaling and upgrade the chips. You can also remove the chips and just slot them into other weapons and there is no limit to upgrading them, you just need to pay the price!
The one thing I hope will be added is more weapons, can we have a weapon that scales with cognition and foresight? Give us some stuff to experiment! If you do a reflex build you can find one of your final weapons in the first area, before the first boss... come on devs! Some enemies dont drop anything.... Pls?
+ There is a crafting- and restoration-system which lets you turn scrapped or old pieces of armor into better than new pieces, just find the recipes and materials!
+ The story is interesting and engaging, picks up a lot of topics which are important in todays day and age... really underappreaciated! I am not going to spoil it, but be prepared to get only bits and pieces in the beginning and depending on how your exploration efforts go you can suddenly find large amounts of information at once and get...

Pros:
- The scale this game has far exceeds what I would have imagined a small team to be able to do.
- Combat feels good(occasionally a bit jank)
- Cool looking mobs, bosses and weapons
- Insanely cool atmosphere tying everything together
Cons:
- Prepare to get lost. Spent half the game trying to figure out where to go but some would say thats to be expected when playing a souls-like.
- Bosses felt a little weak. But that might have been because I spent half the game inadvertently farming trying to figure out where to go and out-levelled them...
- The odd stutter here and there but nothing that will noticeably impact gameplay unless you are running a much older system.

Traditional souls-like that doesn't necessarily innovate, but is a great experience to souls fans

Hellpoint is a souls-like to the point. It plays pretty much identically to Dark Souls 1.
My biggest issue with the game is the lack of enemy variety but that's honestly about it.
With the rest of the mechanics being so similar to Dark Souls it reaches very similar peaks and consistenly stays fun from start to finish.
Highly recommend if you want a more traditional souls-like.

I have always loved playing the Dark Souls series of games. Each one was difficult in it's own way. Hellpoint is another game that is souls-like and it's playstyle is very similar. I previously played it on Xbox and had to get it for PC. Yes the game is difficult, however at the end of a challenging boss or area within the game. It is absolutely satisfying once you reach the end.
