About Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

About this game

Developed by Guerrilla and published by PlayStation PC LLC

In this post-apocalyptic world, take control of Aloy, an exile from the Nora tribe that has been taken under the wing by Rost. Raising her as his own, Rost teaches her everything he knows, though Aloy's curiosity of the modern world and questions about her mother's disappearance might drive a wedge between the two...

Gorgeous Open-world Exploration

Explore the open world and fight back mechanical creatures from the modern world as you look in nooks and crannies for collectables, fight against enemies, and complete side quests! Often regarded as the best HDR experience, the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn includes fantastic PC upgrades that are sure to make your game look fantastic, with ultrawide support, HDR mode, and more!

Human vs Machine

Explore a world riddled with pre-war machines that have gone rogue. From the harmless Tallnecks to the Watchers, and the fearsome Thundermaw, you'll need to use primitive weaponry — consisting of bow & arrow and traps — to take down humanity's greatest threat: its own inventions. Find weak spots, learn which parts you can shoot off to gain the advantage, and use numerous arrow types for different scenarios; no two machines are exactly alike, and you'll need to adapt accordingly.

Augmented Reality — Focus

At a young age, Aloy found a Focus, an item that is capable of augmenting her reality by giving her visions of modern human machinery. This gives her all of the information she needs to fight against the machine foes that plague the vast lands, as she'll be able to scan and analyze your surroundings properly.

Win the Proving

As an outcast of the Nora Tribe, Aloy must win the proving in order to be accepted back into the tribe and get the ultimate reward: ask anything of the Nora Tribe Matriarchs. To do so, she's trained for years with one single goal: to get answers about her mother. Though, reigning triumphant over the proving might be the simplest challenge that Aloy will face.

Complete Edition

The Steam release for Horizon Zero Dawn comes with the Complete Edition, featuring a slew of upgrades and items that Aloy will be able to take advantage of! Aside from The Frozen Wilds expansion, featuring plenty of new machines, weapons, and quests to complete, you’ll get access to numerous other items, such as Aloy’s Carja Storm Ranger Outfit and Carja Mighty Bow, Carja Trader Pack, Banuk Trail Blazer Outfit and Banuk Culling Bow, Banuk Traveler Back, the Nora Keeper Pack, and the digital art book!

Highly recommend for players who enjoy open world games, and action rpgs.

Compelling story, amazing world building, beautiful graphics. I feel like this is what all open world games should aim for. The map is pretty big, lots of places to explore, and just take in the scenery, yet not too big, so that you feel overwhelmed by the need of exploration. Combat feels pretty unique, diverse and complex. Even though I usually don't care much about combat, I really enjoyed it. The grapchis can sometimes rise to a breathtaking level as the scenery is just so well made. I really enjoyed the theme of the game as well, a combination of sci-fi and fantasy.

A post apocalyptic adventure that's a blend of The Witcher III & Monster Hunter. The protagonist isn't really the usual "So dark" or "Because I was BORN a hero", she simply wants answers, and maybe to belong somewhere. Like collecting? Got'cha. From plants, parts, weapons, armor, mods, buffs, tools. An original story, that takes place over a rather large landscape. Monsters? Plenty of 'em. From strange robotics, human crazies, and even.... bunnies! You'll find a good variety. And I suppose the graphics could be mentioned, they're rather great overall. From sunbeams, to snowstorms, they got you. At the end here; I guess I'm a bit sad I waited a year before just buying this gem.

There's a lot right here, but it doesn't seem to make up for the fact that I'm probably not going to be playing any more than the couple of hours or so I've put in. It mixes some of the shallower elements of RPGs with an action game to what I'd call a success. The upgrade, stats, etc. systems are accessible, and you don't feel like you're getting lost in a world in and of itself, just optimising your bow or whatever (though lots of people are actually into that sort of thing). The gameplay is again pretty accessible and straightforward, can't fault that. Everything has just enough depth to not be boring, but not too much to be off putting. So what is it then, that makes it so meh? It's not the things it gets wrong; like cringey storytelling, or art style where you can't find a person who's calling out to you from a few feet away in the wilderness. I have no compulsion to pick it up again, and I think I know why: It feels like it's made by a committee. They got a bunch of tick boxes to tick, and they ticked them all. There was no _real_ creativity put into creating the game, and so it has no soul.

It's a standard open world RPG with generic female hero protagonist. Could be easily mistaken for a third person Far Cry. The story is interesting but the protagonist extremely boring. Beware that is a very poor port from the PS4, don't even try to get 60 fps unless you're on a GTX series 20 or 30 with at least 8GB of VRAM.

The game is very cool and clearly worth the money. I am very glad that Sony decided to port it to PC. I spent 70 hours behind it and was quite satisfied. Not every project can be delayed for such a long time. There are, of course, optimization issues and minor bugs, but in general it is tolerable. I definitely recommend it for purchase

A strong experience both on PC and STEAM DECK. It’s a conventional action game but more cinematic than most. This comes from excellent voice acting and animation. The gameplay is solid, but not especially original. The world is pretty but BOTW outshone it (as did Elden Ring its sequel). Still this is a solid experience and an engaging story.

I've gotten burned out on the Ubisoft-style open world formula. This has some of that, but it manages to keep the world feeling fresh and exciting without feeling like a chore. The side quests actually add to the story, and the character and world building are great. Combat is really fun too and is actually a challenge.
