About How 2 Escape

About this game

How 2 Escape is an escape-simulation game where two players will need to cooperate on asymmetrical gameplay and devices.

Cooperate to win!

2 players, and 2 ways to play.

The first player on PC embodies the character trapped in the train, exploring and playing with the environment.

The second player will use the dedicated free companion app* to get various information and try to understand how to help the first player and be able to escape from this unfortunate travel…

Railway to Hell

Each wagon is timed in different ways that you’ll discover. Running out of time means defeat.

The longer you wait, the more difficult it is to see clearly...

Both players will need to interact with each other and focus on their senses. Puzzles will require logic, coordination, observation and listening but most of all: communication!

No time to chitchat. Get out of the trapped train. Every second is counted.

Story-Train-lling

Emy wakes up, trapped in a speeding train filled with traps and enigmatic puzzles. Her only way out? Reach the brake lever of the locomotive to stop the train. Her brother, Johann, on the other end of the phone, is the sole possessor of information that will aid Emy in navigating through the various carriages and escaping from this train. Will you be able to save Emy in time?

This has to be the most infuriating escape game i have ever played and i am really sad to say this because it actually started off really good. i played on PC, my husband on his phone. At first the puzzles are rather short and working together works well, everyone has something to do (either describe or puzzle). The further you get, the worse it gets though. The levels take longer and longer (you have over 2 hours to solve the last one!), the puzzles more and more complex, and each player has more and more stuff they have to do on their own, making the other one sit there waiting. The puzzles also get less and less satisfying. They are more and more connected to each other, so you have to do increasingly more before you are rewarded for it. You often have to jump between puzzles and make connections that feel very farfetched. The hints are utterly useless and mainly tell you what you already know. If you don't get to the solution with the three hints, you are fecked or have to look up a guide. The last two levels i played solely with a guide because we couldn't figure out what the hell we were supposed to do and even with the guide that tries to explain the solution before showing it to you, it didn't become any clearer. Now to the story. At forst we thought that it would be exciting and mysterious but everything is pretty much revealed in the middle of the game and then just dragged out. The whole reason for the escape is really boring and bland, the "cutscenes" are boring and don't add anything to the game. All in all a very disappointing and annoying experience that would not recommend.
