I have hunted for about 45 years and everything from waterfowl and migratory birds to large trophy hunts involving deer, bear, and elk and removing nuisances of coyotes and feral hogs. The first thing that gets you hooked, imho, are the lifelike graphics of the simulation. However, I have never taken a dog on a deer hunt. I realize some people do and that is their preference, but with deer, you want complete silence. Even squelches on a two-way radio between hunters can easily spook a deer. Now, in the game, you track the deer based on tracks, but in the game, you cannot tell how fresh the tracks are which is vital in an actual hunt. I know I am nitpicking, but when the game claims to be the most realistic hunting simulation, I would expect the AI in the game to at least use dialog and indicate how fresh the tracks might be. Speculation is a part of hunting and the only absolute in deer hunting is that it takes patience. Sometimes you wait for a deer to come to you, I present blinds and tree stands as example. The hunting tower used in the game seems like a good idea, but it could be too high especially in cases where you only wound the deer and quickly have to pursue it. That tower would have caused the hunter to lose sight of the deer and then a wounded deer could have caused the pursuit to be broken and then the deer die a slow, painful death.
