Fantastic! I avoided any spoilers and it was worth it. I really love the progression and discovery. Love the atmosphere provided by the combination of the SFX, music and visuals!

Top notch lite-horror rogue-lite deck-builder from the maker of Hex and Pony Island!

Inscryption is the 3rd published game from Mullins Games. Looks and feels indie and is a great upgrade from Pony Island and Hex. It follows a similar unconventional storytelling, starting in the middle of the story and slowly piecing together what must be done. Inscryption is just layers upon layers, sometimes meta, and has some really nice surprises. It's difficult to not spoil this game for you, so... if you like deck-builder card-games, very rogue lite, with top notch lite-horror story background, and slowly introducing mechanics through a discovery process which will only frustrate the most impatient of players, then this game is for you.

Inscryption is a rogue like card game, in which you are locked in a cabin with a not-so-nice person whom insists you play card games. It is your objective to find a way out of this mess before your captor grows bored! In short, Inscryption mixes elements of TGC card games with roguelike and escape room elements. Each run you start from scratch, picking a "route" like in Slay the Spire, with each stop on the trail being an encounter. This in itself is fun, but Inscryption raises the bar by giving you the option of *getting up from the table* to explore the space and possibly find items to help you defeat your enigmatic captor. There is a lot more to the game, but I won't venture there, as it is major spoiler territory. Suffice to say there are more layers in the game that one might expect. My only gripe with the game is probably the RNG involved with each run. Some runs were doomed from the start, some gave me incredible combos out of the gate. This randomness made it feel less like skill and more like luck. But this is pretty typical for card games. A good starting hand can be the difference between victory or defeat. My second complaint is that I wanted more escape room stuff. All in all, sn easy recommend.

My GOTY 2021, a fantastic deckbuilder with so much more behind it, it's best to go in blind. You are in for quite the ride.

Fun game of cards with some hidden depths that take you on wild trips. While I love the game I felt it was a bit short and wanted to see more from it.

It is an awesome card game. It constantly surprised me as I progressed through the game. Talking anything about the game would be a spoiler though, so I will leave it at that.
