About Killing Room

About this game

Killing Room is a first-person shooter mixed with a rogue-like RPG and reality-show parody. You are a (un)lucky contestant in Killing Room, a popular reality show in a decadent 22nd century. You know that there is only glory or death – with death winning in 99 out of 100 cases.

What Is Killing Room?

First-person shooter
Killing Room offers classical first-person gunplay with many weapons, even melee ones like Scythe or the audience’s favorite flyswatter.

Rogue-like
There is Permanent death, random generation and very high difficulty in Killing Room so as to ensure that your skills will be properly tested and that every wrong move can cause you a lot of trouble.

Reality-show parody
We love the idea behind the Smash TV game of the Running Man movie/book. The Killing Room, therefore, aims for this. Your character is in a bad situation but he can become ridiculously rich in a few hours. However, everyone will do everything possible to stop him. Killing Room is a cruel reality show, one full of dark humor and cynicism.

Online voting for streamers and viewers
You can let a real online audience decide how you will be rewarded or punished during your playthrough. Just stream the game and share the provided URL with your followers. This is a completely new way of interaction between a player and his/her audience. We made sure that it brings a great amount of fun for both sides while it is absolutely optional. Playing without a real online audience is still a complete experience.

Popularity-driven
You will be closely watched not only by an online audience. Your actions will be evaluated by an AI audience as well. If you are boring, your popularity will drop. But if you entertain crowds, you can become their hero. Being popular is everything when it comes to TV shows! Literally, it is everything, because if you annoy the audience, they will make you regret the moment you ever entered Killing Room.

RPG
Your character is defined by various attributes – Stamina, Health, Speed, Defense, Accuracy, etc. You can invest in boosting these attributes to significantly help you in your desperate effort. But you can also depend on items that can boost your attributes and even give you special effects and bonuses beyond the basic RPG system. There are double-jumps, invulnerability to traps, various maps of Killing Room sets, and tons of other useful things. But if you are a bad boy or girl with low popularity or begrudging online viewers, you can also get trouble items which will cause you…well, trouble...from hardly noticeable penalties to your attributes to serious diseases, the inability to run or losing an eye.

Diverse and rich in content and gameplay
Guns and melee weapons, 3 different 'worlds' with unique enemies, boss fights, more than 100 unique items, points of interest with rewards, and many more await you in Killing Room. Also, while our show permanently tries to kill its participants, it is not only about shooting. We have prepared many interesting traps, puzzles, and other elements to make sure that our show is in no way boring.

Killing Floor will not be for everyone because of it's interesting design choices. Instead of reloading when you run out of bullets automatically, you will be pressing R to reload every couple of seconds because clip sizes are small. It is a roguelike with unfair invincibility frames. The second game might be worth checking out or this one if you watched Markiplier play two times and then forget about this game and wanted to play it yourself. I like the tone of the game. There is an in-game audience that rewards or hurts you depending on how well you play or rely on help.

Killing Room is all about the punishment play. It was clearly designed to make people suffer. But the difficulty of it all is mostly luck based. Even if you have all the skills: You might lose. It's all random and It's incredibly hard to win. But when you do win: It feels really amazing. I enjoyed it for '30' hours: It was quite good. The base price of 7,99€ was clearly worth it. Everything about this game felt well crafted. And, I just absolutely have to recommend it. The overall design honestly looked fantastic. Just a great luck based first person shooter. Every run feels different and that's perfect. I wish there was a bigger boss fight variety. Bosses are the only thing that isn't random. Everything else is randomized just perfectly. On the other hand: The item variety is nice. There's so many unique items in this game. I just have to give this a big positive review. This game deserves a sequel in my opinion.

Killing Floor takes place in the city of London, which has been devastated by a large outbreak of “zombies” attacking and devouring everyone & everything in sight. In the games universe these creatures aren't zombies at all, instead, they are referred to as "specimens". Killing Floor is both developed and published by Tripwire interactive. ! Gameplay ! Killing floor is a brilliant addition to the survival/horror genre, with amazing weapon balancing and a smart way to get you into higher difficulties. It has got that progression element where your character gets more proficient as you play, the fact that every time you level up one of your perks, your arsenal gets stronger and cheaper, it is indeed a smart way to challenge you into increasing your difficulty level, as well as keeping you from starting with the hardest difficulty as a new comer and getting completely annihilated. Sure, the graphics might seem a bit out-dated but they are well accomplished; brains flying out of skulls when you head shot the zombies. It is also pretty tactical and also the boss fights are brutal. You'll get killed a lot, but the sense of achievement feels really good when you finally beat the game. The dialogues are fine, although the voice acting might come out as a bit cheesy. The maps are well designed, with some open areas where the zombies can spawn from all directions, keeping you on your toes at all times. There are a lot of narrow corridors and rooms where there is no turning back from if you push forward. Although one complaint I had while playing is that the maps can be too dark for a large area, I fully understand that maps should be dark to add to the "horror" element of the game, yet some of the maps are always well lit, and others are pretty much pitch black. There are a plenty of maps available at your disposal to expand your killing grounds, ranging from the famous devastated ruins of London to an underground complex that started it all. Starting a game also invites customization in which the length of the match can be controlled by adjusting the amount of zombie waves. Some enemies can be exclusively added via “mutations” which can alter the gameplay. ! Smart zombies ! The zombies AI is also outstanding, as they are always coming to get you, and rarely ever getting stuck or bugged. The variety of the zombie mobs is just amazing, with you always running from different threat each time. Whether it be stalkers being directly in front of you as you're...
