Good game, bad company.

The 15 hours of the game I have played have been wonderful---although I expect it to get long in the tooth, as these games tend to run 30+ hours, with my playthrough of Yakuza: Like a Dragon running almost 80. However, despite being a charming game, SEGA's DLC practices are absolutely abhorrent and I cannot condone their practice of locking gameplay features behind DLC.

Before people go ham for my bad ratings, let me explain why I give this a 2/5. The game itself is good. The game mechanics, music, mini games are pretty much an improvement from the first game. No question that its a polished game. That is what is good about this game. If you want LAD7 but with better improvements, then yes, its a good game. Now the cons: Firstly, whats up with Sega and the DLC. I bought the standard base game. Didnt know about the NG+ thing. Imagine you cant complete some steam achievement because it hides behind some DLC stuff. Not only I cant get NG+, there is another steam achievement that is locked, i.e some new dungeon, and yes, you are paying roughly $20 for NG+ and a new dungeon.... what.... That aside, the story is good until the end. At the end, it feels like a very nothing burger. Not only the story made me feel.. eh w/e I dont care, they didnt resolve some people conclusion. As much as Yakuza6 story was wacked af, its ending is better than this ending. Lastly, some ppl like the mini games. I like LAD7 kart ride. I like LAD business money making. I dont like Dondoko Island ( its grindy and super long ) and I dont like the simplicity of Sujimon. I know they added more mini games but the quality imo isnt as good as others. So yeah, thats how I feel about this game. If its discounted, then its worth picking it up.

One of the best rpgs of all time.

The game is amazing. An improvement over the first in so many ways, and that is saying something because the first game was one of the few super long 50+ hour rpgs that makes me want to keep going and doing everything. Not to mention I absolutely love that the protagonist is a full blown adult (if a little... Special) instead of yet another child being placed in adult situations for no purpose other than to further this agenda of sexual idolization of underage children. Keep up the fantastic work and showing other rpg makers how to craft a properly engaging video game
