Martha Is Dead is a dark psychological thriller FPS set during World War II in Italy. The desecrated body of a young woman is found drowned, and it turns out to be Giulia's twin sister, Martha. In the midst of the tragedy of war, she must find the truth about her sister's murder, which turns out to be shrouded by folklore and the horrors of war.
Authentic Italian
Martha Is Dead's default language is Italian to cause an easier immersion into the setting and story.
From The Creators Of The Town Of Light
Martha Is Dead is the second game by the award-winning developer, which specialises in reality-based narrative games that focus on tough subjects.
Many Layers
There is a lot to unpack and explore in this title, from loss, relationships and the psychological impact of such a dark point in our history — everything is explored unabashedly through a young woman's point of view. One who also has secrets of her own.
Faithful Recreation
Explore the gorgeous Tuscany countryside, which was lovingly crafted to be as close to reality to bring even more realism. Whether you want to do so on bike, by boat, or on foot is up to you!
Remember The Past
Using marionette puppets, you'll uncover repressed memories by playing with them.
Folklore!
The story is laced in with some folklore, too, so you'll be able to unlock symbols and use tarot cards to summon the spirit of The Lady.
Sense Of Doom
To add to the tension of war, you can collect newspapers and telegrams and listen to the radio to get updates on the situation, giving a sense of imminent danger.
Photographs
Take pictures and use realistic methods to develop them through a fully functional in-game darkroom! Although you need to take photos as part of the progression, you can do so as a hobby, too!
Haunting Soundtrack
Lastly, to complete the authentic experience, the game has a phenomenal atmospheric soundtrack! Composed by the same composer as the music in The Town of Light: Aseptic Void. The tones are moody yet spine-tingling. Additionally, the game features reimagined versions of classic tracks, including Schubert's Ave Maria and O Bella Ciao.
