This game is extremely close to what I’d consider a masterpiece in the gaming industry, story, gameplay, music, you name it. This game feels like it’s been lovingly crafted and created to be designed to the players, not like what we’d see on the regular from AAA companies these days.
To start with, the gameplay is amazing and incredibly satisfying. Your main technique of defense is parrying which helps to protect you from enemy attacks and can open up into Zandatsu. Zandatsu is performed when a blue flash appears on the screen after sometimes finishing a combo or parrying and when you open Blade Mode, time is slowed and you can chop up your enemy into tiny chunks. This is an incredibly satisfying mechanic and really helps to make this game even better.
The music is something I can hardly even start on. In this game, the music is integrated perfectly with the gameplay and the music itself is perfect. The best music is in the bossfights which start off with the instrumental form of the song and then eventually cleanly transition to the vocals kicking in.
The boss fights are also really fun. They challenge your skills and understanding of the game’s mechanics while being challenging and demand you to learn their many moves and how to deal with them. These can feel slightly unfair at times but it’s mostly down to the player not learning the boss’s moves and attacks.
The story, memes, what can I say?
Amazing game, couldn’t recommend it enough 9.5/10
