Money well spent!

I've been a big fan of the series since Monster Hunter: World on Steam. So while I'm not exactly the oldest fan, the game won me over quickly. When Rise dropped on Switch, I swapped it up immediately. I loved it. Put 60hrs into it, before I decided I couldn't deal with the motion sickness the low performance gave me very easily. I really wanted to play it on PC, but I didn't want to shell out $60 + tax on it again, so it's awesome that I could find it for nearly $20 cheaper here on Fanatical! The game itself barrows a lot from World that did right, and then fixes some of the things the players thought that World did bad. For example, the claw mechanic from World is reintroduced in a sort of new way in Rise, split into two different kinds of mechanics. The first is the wirebug. A quick way to dash about or flee from enemies, or even fling yourself toward them. The other way is Wyvern Riding, which utilizes the wirebug still. Rise also condensed the maps. They're still pretty big, and expressive, but they toned down all of the "useless" space. It accumulates into a more cohesive time on the field, as you aren't struggling through massive maps to find materials or monsters. Multiplayer is basically the same thing, only this time around, you do NOT need to view cutscenes first before joining or starting a lobby for a monster. One last thing I think that changed a lot is the freedom and range of the monsters. They feel like they respond more intelligently and nimbly than they did in World, which can often feel like they are just "easier" because of how well you can account for that narrower space of movement, but combat and difficult is basically the same thing, just slightly more fast paced. There's a lot of new and returning features that I won't spoil, but if you really liked World or any of the other MH titles, I think you will really dig this one!

An amazing game all-around. It's my second Monster Hunter after World and while I played World for almost 400h, I feel like this game might surpass that hour count sooner or later. Thanks to the silkbugs gameplay is so much more fluid and dynamic, and I feel more in control of the, well, controls, then ever. Paired with a diet that leaves absolutely no unnecessary filler in the game, Monster Hunter Rise is a tight and engaging experience.

For anyone who has played MH:W this is a great next game in the series. It improves mobility and combat flow with new "silkbind" skills. There's a a lot of monsters from the very start and all the weapons and armors look like the monster they are made from from the start. The only "downside" is that graphically it's not on par with world and maps are slightly smaller in size, but have more verticality. However it does run better because of it.

A great entry in the Monster Hunter franchise and a return to the classic formula. Stylized graphics and HUD give Rise an unique style that will feel familiar to Monster Hunter fans. Gameplay has been greatly enhanced with a focus on mobility, the aspect that was mostly lacking in the series, and the Wirebugs are an amazing upgrade to the Clutch Claw of World. Palamutes are an upgraded Tail Rider that doubles as a controllable mount but with extra utility. Rampage Quests are also great for those that want the intimidate combat of Arena Quests but with more variety in what happens.

Monster Hunter Rise is a brilliant sequel to Monster Hunter World. The art style is beautiful, with stylized graphics that will stand the test of time. Hunters are more mobile, and every weapon has new tricks that make the game feel much more weighty. The wirebug mechanics are well balanced, and misuse of them can result in your hunter being horribly punished by monster attacks. I've played every Monster Hunter game since Freedom Unite, and can say without reservation that Rise is a worthy part of the franchise.

This is an amazing Monster Hunter game, the new wirebug mechanics really smoothen out the movement that has always kind of been slightly clunky. It's basically just the same as every other Monster Hunter sequel, new stuff, same overall gameplay loop. This is absolutely the best Monster Hunter game on PC as it is actually optimized and can run at 60+ fps on mediocre computers with little issue.
