About Neon Chrome

About this game

Death is always a new procedurally generated beginning…

From the creators of the cult hit Crimsonland comes Neon Chrome, a ruthless twin-stick top-down shooter with procedurally generated levels and destructible environments. Blast your way through enemies, install perks from cyber chambers and upgrade your character stats after each death. Can you stop the evil Overseer?

Almost everything in Neon Chrome can be destroyed with over a dozen weapons or cybernetic abilities. You’ll shoot through walls, make rooms explode, and obliterate whole floors while blasting your way through lethal assault drones and cyborgs.

Along the way you will loot credits from the Overseer’s fallen minions which you can use to permanently improve your stats like health, luck and damage. No two paths are alike in Neon Chrome - after each death the game will generate a completely new path always ending in a final showdown with the Overseer.

Armed with your skills, weapons, and cybernetic abilities you’ll have a fighting chance of stopping the Overseer. If you need some help bringing him down, Neon Chrome supports 2-4 players in shared screen local co-op!

A good game and this is the main game that showed 10tons knows thier craft fairly well (Twin Stick)

Usually, I wouldn't make a review start like this, let alone mention other games made by the same company in a game review. But, since this company is quite versed in making twin stick or top down style games and is slowly but surely gaining a nice reputation I'll make an exception First, a bit about 10tons and how they manage to "juggle" this subgenre of games quite nicely, then its on to Neon Chrome's review and other games that I recommend in this games style by them Normally a company doing too many of something (whether its one style of media or one genre) isn't a good thing, however when you are expereienced and varied enough in your craft, that is where you can become a special exception to this rule Neon Chrome was the first outing in the Twin Stick Shooter genre for 10tons with light RPG elements. And while beginnings weren't necessairly humble, what they were is that 10tons was there to show they know this genre and know how to make just enough changes to avoid monotony. Now DON’T get me wrong, 10tons has done some other fun stuff, like Xenoraid being a rogue-like schmup and Sparkle 1 and 2 essentially being a mixture of a board game, arkanoid (power ups remind me of it) and Zuma But their first outings that really got onto my radar and what (in my opinion) made 10tons get fairly positive following was Crimsonland and Neon Chrome Crimsonland was essentially Alien Shooter meets light RPG elements and put it in an endless arena shooter akin to something like Dead Ops from Black Ops 1, while this wasn’t anything new, what we got was a solid top down twinstick shooter that amalgamated different elements of game design and made it into quite a fun and gory time killer Neon Chrome was their next outing done in a similar fashion. Only this time this a rogue-lite twin stick shooter set in a dystopian cyberpunk world where one corporation is essentially taking over every element of the world and life itself. While the plot at FACE VALUE (Big letters=emphasis) isn’t anything new, what IS interesting is how the story itself is executed. It is a lot less “been there done that” and a lot less tropey then expected. Don’t get me wrong, its nothing award winning, but the story and interactions between the player character and primary antagonist is interesting to see fully unfold. Gameplay wise things like keeping an eye on terrain and enemy placement as you go through each floor, along with strategizing a build as you go along and find/unlock...
