About NUTS

About this game

Gear up your research caravan, boot up your GPS, spread out your map and head for the depths of Melmoth Forest. As a rookie field researcher, you’ll place cameras during the day, and watch the footage at night, tracking the movements of a scurry of squirrels.

Where do they hide their nuts? What puzzling routes do they take? And why do they behave so strangely?

INCLUDES:

  • Gameplay based on surveillance and tracking
  • An immersive story with full voice acting
  • Bold visuals and foley sound effects envelop the player in a vibrant forest

GET TO WORK

You are a tiny cog in the ever-grinding machinery of Viago University’s research efforts. As a recent graduate, you’ve been sent on assignment to live alone in a dinky caravan in Melmoth Forest. Your job? To figure out exactly where the native squirrel's nest is. But the longer you spend in the forest, the stranger things begin to seem.

ARRANGE YOUR CAMERAS

Each day, your mission briefing will give you a starting point, but it’ll be on you to determine the optimal layout for your equipment through trial and error. Explore the wonders and mysteries of the enigmatic Melmoth Forest at your ease during the daytime, until night falls…

ANALYZE YOUR FOOTAGE

… when you can review all the content you captured in your DIY control center. Comb your footage for the information needed to complete your mission and send proof to your boss Dr. Nina Scholz back at the research institute. With each new day, things get weirder and weirder. But with both of you working on the case, maybe you can figure out what’s really going on.

This game is an amazing feat of indie story telling. While not being a perfect 10/10, NUTS is a great story wrapped in a unique style with responsive controls and more than understandable puzzles while still leaving a lot of options for solutions. A short but sweet indie game racking out about 4 hours if you are being a bit slow (like me)

It's okay

It's okay. The art style is interesting at first but became rather dull after a while. The stark nature of the visuals became rather monotonous. The story is meant to be a building mystery but to me it felt predictable and tired. It didn't really give me anything that new or interesting to think about, which is kind of necessary if your visuals are dull and your game play is simple. At a low price and with low expectations you may enjoy it for one playthrough, just don't expect too much.

Quite a nice game, bit short but enjoyable. Had fun playing it and I love the artstyle, atmosphere and message It's a walking simulator but its not boring. It's a bit concise but thats not a bad thing in this instance

Very cute game! Love the graphics and unique gameplay! Your job is to fulfill certain tasks by investigating squirells and tracking their moves throughout the nights by deploying cameras. The are a few games with similar gameplay but NUTS still managed to be unique in its own way. The gamplay loop of placing cameras, watching the recording, moving cameras, watching the recording, etc is sometimes a bit too repetitive and annoying, especially when you have to walk a good bit from your trailer to where your cameras are but it's not too bad as to sour the game. I personally also loved the story, even though it is a very generic "evil companies are destroying nature" storyline. The game provides a nice mix of story, gameplay, cute animals, puzzle, exploration, as well as excitement and certain calming elements. I can only recommend you try NUTS for yourself! Maybe do pick it up on sale though because for 3 hours of gameplay the game is rather short :)

Good atmosphere and graphics. Not a horror game but still spooky.

I thought that this game was pretty good. I loved how spooky it was without being a true horror game and I loved the graphics and atmosphere. The game overall was enjoyable and I had a good time exploring and finding all those nutty squirrels.
