ONE PIECE World Seeker Deluxe Edition

One Piece. Open world. RPG. If any of those caught your attention, this game is for you... or maybe not. For as many interesting ideas OnePiece World Seeker has, it doesn't really capitalize on any of them. For each time you Gomu Gomu no Rocket you use to zip and zoom through the decently sized, albeit relatively empty, world map there's an asinine section with forgettable Marine mobs with clunky combat. This game can't decide if it's an action RPG or a third-person shooter first, so it does both mediocrely. Once you get the hang of the awkward way Luffy handles in combat, you may find it rather enjoyable, but that's gonna take a while! High points are the way the game looks and sounds: for an almost 5 year old game, the visuals are probably the best I've seen for a One Piece games; and the soundtrack is composed by none other than Kohei Tanaka himself, known for giving the anime adaptation its amazing score for over 20 years. The story, however, is kinda bland and simplistic, one in which plot points are reiterated ad nauseam and original characters show up a lot (unlike their personalities). It's like watching one of the more meh-tier OP movies, so if that floats your boat, by all means sail the Grand Line! In terms of DLC: Zoro's was interesting with different traversal mechanics and combat. Story was short and ever so slightly above the average set by the main campaign, adding a new dungeon for you to explore. Sabo's DLC was down right horrible, a mashup of awkward movement, unforgiving combat and boring story with disappointing bosses. Law's DLC, however, might be the best one with a new intertesting character, a new map to explore and techniques, both in and out of combat, which make the Surgeon of Death a riot to control. All in all, skip any DLC unless you're a big fan of the character or just get Law's if you want more game. The game's real solid with a few sore spots, but considering it goes on pretty big sales, I'd say it's completely worth it if you're a One Piece fan, considering it's the main demographic. One last warning though: stay away from higher difficulties than normal. I made the mistake of increasing it to maybe make battles more interesting, but it only mindlessly adds health and damage to enemies until you don't feel accomplished anymore.

It's super good, if you love open world games and are a one piece fan this games is for you.
