About Overloop

About this game

Step into an ethically compromised future where cloning technology has wreaked havoc on humanity – and it’s sort of all YOUR fault! As an employee of nefarious megacorp, Infinity Inc., and the inventor of its Quantic Matter Replication Device (aka the QMRD, aka the cause of the world going to hell in a handbasket), it’s up to you to sort out the mess you helped create.

Grab your cloning gun and hot-foot it through a world descending into clone-induced chaos. Create clones of yourself and use them to solve puzzles and save humanity. Get to it genius!

Features

  • Create clones! Make endless copies of yourself with the cloning gun and use your perfectly formed doppelgangers – up to four at once – to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles
  • Sacrifice clones! Dystopias are very dangerous places, and many clones will suffer hilariously gruesome deaths along the way. Fried! Crushed! Mangled! Minced! RIP clones :(
  • Explore a world of weirdness! From suspiciously friendly AI and cultish crackpots, to modified corn and cloned panda bears. This freaky future has (almost) everything!
  • Think about ethics! Is it better that a clone should die, rather than the real you? Consider the morality of human cloning as you condemn countless versions of yourself to death
  • Have a mustache! Play as a hero with sweet facial hair. Purely cosmetic. Totally badass

If you are looking for a 5 hour easier puzzle platformer with a decent story, here you go!

Tsukichild
Had gone into this game not expecting much at all, but had a hard time stopping game play. My game play time is a bit inflated as I had to leave my computer a few times for some IRL things, so I would clock this is at about 5~ hours for completion. This is a puzzle platformer. Not a hard one, though there are a few challenges where you need to have slightly quicker reflexes or maybe 1 or 2 attempts to figure out what you were meant to do. It's very forgiving in terms of attempts and lives. But that is part of the story it asks you to contemplate. You can go back to any any level and collect any hidden gems you missed, but if you are thorough I don't believe you will miss any. Music and sounds were nice and appropriate for the game play. The pixel art was fitting and worked well together in the different areas. I liked that you would go behind certain background elements in the over world. Story. I don't want to get into too heavily to avoid spoilers. But it't regarding clones, ethics, and humans rights. The former is not done in a very heavy way but it is brought up throughout the game. There is also a religion surrounding corn. Game play itself was solid. Controls were wasd, e, space, jl. As noted above, mostly more casual with some puzzles requiring a bit more precision or speed. These are later in the game. I encountered one bug midway in the game where my characters were dead but wouldn't leave ghost mode so I couldn't continue. I had to completely close the game. I am not sure what caused that and it never happened again.
