About Pathologic 2

About this game

Pathologic 2 is a narrative-driven dramatic thriller about fighting a deadly outbreak in a secluded rural town. The town is dying. Face the realities of a collapsing society as you make difficult choices in seemingly lose-lose situations. The plague isn’t just a disease. You can’t save everyone.

The plague is devouring the town. The chief local healer is dead, and you are now to take his place. You’ll have to look for unexpected allies. The local kids are hiding something. Try playing by their rules.

You only have 12 days.

  • 12 days in an odd town ravaged by a deadly disease.
  • Time is of the essence: if you don’t manage it carefully, it’ll simply run out. You’ll have to choose how to spend the priceless minutes you have.
  • Survival thriller. You’ll have to manage your bodily functions, offsetting hunger, thirst, exhaustion, and so on. It doesn’t boil down to scavenging resources. Surviving on your own is hard; you’ll have to win over allies.
  • An uphill battle. Managing your bodily parameters may seem bearable at first, and as time goes by, it becomes harder and harder. Your own body is only waiting for an opportunity to give up and betray you. Things are changing from bad to worse and the odds are stacked against you.
  • A duel with an enemy you can’t kill. Your main foe is the plague itself, an incorporeal and malevolent entity that you have to defeat… without having the means to. It’s more powerful and more treacherous than you can imagine.
  • Loot, murder, mug, steal, barter, beg… or don’t. You need resources to survive, and it’s up to you how to obtain them.
  • The fights are short, ungraceful, and vicious. They’re not always lethal though. Many people—yourself included—would prefer to exchange their wallet for their life.

May not be the cult classic the original Pathologic was, but this is a sequel still packing quite the punch, to be fair this is pretty much an unaccesible game if you're not a fan of the original, but for us who enjoy these kinds of weird-ass games that are pretty much in their own league, this is perfect. Art direction can be even more polished and weird than the original sometimes so that's just a plus. Greatly recommended.

Pathologic 2 is one of the most unnerving games I have ever played and I absolutely love it. Between the setting and the characters all give you a sense of unease and impending peril. Your choices shape the game world and yet it seems the world is indiffent to your suffering. Time is an unwavering and invulnerable foe. Pathologic 2 is also a remake of the original Pathologic! A hidden gem among older pc titles. This fact alone should not sway you from playing this masterpiece of storytelling. Be wary of the butterfly friends.

I don't know the content because it is not in a language I understand, but the atmosphere is very scary. I am not good at horror games.

If you want to test your will against the despair of a pandemic...

You must treat a plague-ridden town in the Middle Ages. In a time of superstition, doctors must use scientific knowledge to cure people of infectious diseases. What did doctors of that time have to deal with? Yes, you work to help people, but you also have to face robbers and fight for your life. Resources to treat the plague are always scarce, and people are slowly dying. What choices will you make in this situation? It's not a fast-paced game that will keep your interest, but if you want to test your will in the face of despair, this is a good choice.

The game is interesting in the start and hooks you with it's world, but the inability to save at any point ruins it for me. It could work for others, but I don't have a couple of hours to play any game. I have 20 minutes to play a game and it won't be this one because I will just lose my progress over and over again.

Oppressive. Miserable. Hateful. Untrustworthy. Horrifying. Beautiful. Pathologic 2 is not a game to enjoy but to experience, it really it one of a kind (If you ignore the original). Seriously though Pathologic 2 will depress and upset you in the best possible way, it'll make you care about everyone yet not trust a word they say to you. You'll open up to some yet hide your true intentions to others. I love this game and while there are plenty of bugs and issues, you should definitely give this a try. I just wish there was another fast travel option which still used the in game clock (Maybe limited to only being able to travel to areas where you are trusted but not to neutral/hated/infected areas).
