Take on the role of high school student-turned-Phantom Thief Joker when he moves to Tokyo only for things to take a turn for the strange. Everywhere in the Metaverse is patrolled by fierce Shadows, which take on monstrous forms to keep you from your goal! Buy items in various shops and upgrade your abilities in the underground Mementos to take on even the toughest of foes. Simple trinkets can become powerful totems, and weapons that are harmless in the real world can do harm to Shadows.

I usually don't like JRPGs but this has scored so well I decided to give it a try. I'm 40 hours in and love it. The game play is a mix of dungeon crawling, planning attacks, and living life as a student. The game balances these activities so well to keep the game interesting. The characters are a little tropey but fun and keep the story and relationships engaging.

I can't say anything else other than this game is the best Persona game out there in terms of quality of animation and story. However, I would also recommend you play the previous Persona games if you enjoy this game. (This game is standalone, therefore you don't need to play the previous Persona games.)

You know why you're here. Persona 5 had been out for about a decade now to critical acclaim and now, finally, it's on all platforms for everyone to enjoy.
For those who don't know by now, somehow, this game prides itself on hundreds of hours of meaningful content and an extremely addictive game loop.
You have to balance your school and social life on top of basically being the bat league with your friends, fighting "crime" in the shadows to reform society, all while evading the watchful eye of the police. The story is incredibly rich, the sound track is banging and the Royal version only doubles down on it.
There's is no game on earth more deserving of it's Triple A price tag than Persona 5 and now that it's on PC, you can take it even further beyond with mods for a second or third replay (I'm on my fourth x.x)
One I'd highly recommend is the mod that changes the Royal ambush theme back to last surprise, the base game's anguish theme, to get the original experience with the benefits of Royal.
You can also have mods that rebalance the DLC personas so they aren't super overpowered and just sweeping the game for you. Check out Game Banana for Reloaded II for details on how to get started start. There's a ton of fun to have on this game and the fun never stops for the Phantom Thieves. Well... Sorta.

P5R ultimately disappointed. It is completely ruined by its writing, which is not on par with P3 or P4 and feels extremely weak and noncommittal. Overall it's an average game, but it falls short of being good, or even fantastic, for these glaring writing issues.
