"Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a sequel that surpasses the original in nearly every way, and is an RPG that should not be missed."
80 / 100
"Deadfire is dense, and it isn't a small game, easily dwarfing its predecessor in terms of scale. There's a lot to do, and it's easier than ever to get lost in the little...

With a deeper narrative and exploration on both land and sea, players can immerse themselves in the world of Eora like never before. Thanks to its multiple companions and customizable ship options, you'll have a blast when you set sail in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game but felt the story was weaker in comparison to the first Pillars of Eternity. I will say that the most massive improvement in this game was the multiclass system as it allowed me to theorycraft which I have always found personally enjoyable. They also added a ship minigame which is tolerable imo but not the reason I enjoy this game. Also the party limit in this one is reduced by one, so max party limit of 5 in game companions or ones you've created at the taverns. As for the two main dlcs, I enjoyed Beasts of Winter but felt that seeker, slayer, survivor was kind of a slog to get through. I'd still recommend this game if you're into party based isometric games though. Also there are to modes of playing turn-based and the regular stop and pause mechanic with the spacebar.

A sign that modern CRPGs still have the ability to compete with the classics. The turn based combat added post launch makes this game even better in my opinion. Another win from Obsidian.

It got me playing the first one again so I could have a save as I don't remember much from the first game.

I'm not a fan of pirates, ships or the sea. But as a PoE fanboy this is a really nice sequel that gets the old school RPG right. It brings me back to the 90's, but with the polish of today. If you like oldschool RPGs and you have some time to invest in a world other than your own. This is the game for you.

I love this game. Even though it was controversial with some people, I loved the option for turn-based grid combat instead of real-time-with-pause. It's a lot easier for me to tell what's going on. The only "problem" I had with this game was the length. It's a significant time investment, and something so lore-heavy can be hard to pick back up if your schedule requires you to take an extended break during a play-through. Even so, I'd highly recommend it.

Absolutely great game, huge improvement from the first one. Beautiful landscapes and cities with tones of quests and lots to explore, all of the DLC that comes with the obsidian edition is really worth it. Definetly worth it.
