I'm terrible at Point Perfect. I know what I SHOULD do—mechanically, it couldn't be simpler—but wow, it's like I've never used a mouse before. I feel like an idiot every time, and I can't get enough of it.
Click and drag to set up a box. Wait for bad guys to fall into the trap. Release.
Do that again and again without letting anything collide with your cursor.
I'm telling you, it's as simple as games get, but the enemy patterns are so clever, so devious, so shockingly simple, that suddenly the most basic functions of computer operation elude me. My scores are embarrassing. I am embarrassing.
Point Perfect is a brilliant up-ending of the shooter genre. Unless there's more I haven't unlocked, the whole game is only three levels, but even as someone who doesn't usually care about mastery and score-chasing, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. It's a novel, well-crafted arcade game, yours to keep for just a few coins.
