Immersive Racing Experience

Redout is a next-generation AG racing game that combines nostalgic elements of classic games like F-Zero and WipeOut with futuristic driving experiences. The game takes players through breathtaking landscapes from serene coastlines and icy terrains to expansive desert plains, all brought to life with the state-of-the-art Unreal Engine 4. Its immersive semi-abandoned Earth setting adds a unique dystopian edge to the gaming experience.

A Battle of Speed and Control

The game offers much more than traditional competitive racing. Players can feel the rush of zooming at 800km/h, the thrill of overtaking opponents on bendy tracks, and the intensity of colliding with other vehicles. These experiences are further amplified by the physics derived from quad-copters controllers and real magnetic forces that give players superior control over their ship's behaviour, making each race a strategic battle of speed and control.

An Array of Features

The Redout: Enhanced Edition offers an array of features that further enrich the game. It supports online multiplayer racing for up to 12 players, providing an opportunity for competitive play with friends or racers around the globe. With over 100 events to participate in, an optional VR support, a full 5.1 support, and an increasingly dynamic soundtrack that intensifies with speed, players are promised a diverse, super-fast racing world that keeps the adrenaline pumping.

Recommended to all the people looking for an entertaining futuristic racing game.

If you like Wipeout or games of the same genre, you'll fall in love with Redout. The graphic is really good, and the soundtrack is appropriate and well chosen. The gameplay is really similar to other futuristic racing game, and maybe the only fault of this game is a certain lack of originality. Anyway, the single player career is well made, and you can upgrade your ship after every race, incentivising the player to continue playing.

a simple game of racing is a different concept from cars but is the same after all, a good game

Good solid "hover" racer

Good overall game...fairly similar to other "hover" racers. Did seem to get repetitive after a short while.

A great game. This is what Wipeout would be if there were no combat, and a 100% focus on racing.

Redout was recommended to me by my brother, based on our mutual enjoyment of the Wipeout, Rollcage, and MarioKart franchises. Of these, I have spent the most time with Wipeout through the years and I'm happy to find that Redout is an excellent alternative. High-speed races with breakneck corners and a really lovely boosting system make for a game I'll be spending many hours with. There are many good points about Redout, but I'll cut my list to 3 key ones: The gorgeous graphics, nuanced controls, and lack of weapon pickups. The game is, frankly, stunning. My laptop defaulted to 'Epic' settings on all areas and after some experimentation with lowering them, I really found no reason to try and squeeze more performance out of my machine by keeping them reduced. The brightly lit cityscapes and environments behind each track are decently varied, and the tracks don't get boring to the eyes despite each being revisited through several different events. The controls take some getting used to, with the right-stick drift steering not being quite the same as any title I've ever played. I reached for the brakes expecting Wipeout's airbraking system, and instead fount myself diving deep into Redout's own implementation of turning a high-speed racing ship. Lastly...NO WEAPON PICKUPS! This wouldn't normally be something that I would find enjoyable, but being able to tweak my ship before events and not being worried by stray missiles or bombs meant I could focus all of my attention on the thing I came for: Racing. On the bad side, there have been some issues with running Redout on Linux, which I'm yet to resolve. There is also a 'requirement' to log in to an Epic Games account before playing online or multiplayer games, which is actually defunct. If logging into Epic, no servers can be created or found, but this is resolved immediately by skipping this login. Minor issues, which could likely be resolved in the future if the developers aren't too busy with the sequel (PLEASE don't be too busy!).

TLDR: Great game, but the VR was pulled out of it :(

I really liked this game, though I have to dock it a point for one reason I'll get into later. The graphics and sense of speed this game present are great, and there's just enough mechanics to flying your ship that it keeps playing the same courses interesting. There is a "story mode" which doesn't add much, but doesn't take away from the core experience either. If you're looking for something to play that falls into the same vein as F-Zero or Wipeout then you'll find yourself at home with Redout. The only thing that let me down was that Steam advertises this game as having VR support, but this has apparently been patched out at some point. This was quite disappointing for me as it was one of the main reasons for my purchase, however the game is good enough without it that I feel the purchase was still worth it.
