About Resident Evil Village

About this game

Developed and published by CAPCOM.

In this eighth major instalment of the Resident Evil franchise, you'll once again take control of Ethan Winters — the protagonist of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard!

No escape

The story takes place a few years after the frightening events of Biohazard. Mia and Ethan are living peacefully in a new location, trying to find a life outside the nightmares they've endured... but you can't escape your past. Not forever.

Everything turns awry as Chris Redfield — a legendary hero from the previous entries — interrupts their peace by kidnapping Mia, leaving Ethan to follow his trail.

Explore the village

The new setting is an empty, eerie, and dangerous village that has been savaged by the newest enemy: werewolves! Despite that, Ethan will have to travel through it, fighting off lycanthropes from himself and the residents he'll meet along the way.

Meet the infamous Lady Dimitrescu

Among a wide cast of sinister characters, you'll meet both friends and foes — including the towering and notorious Lady Dimitrscu!

New multiplayer mode!

Resident Evil Re:Verse is a new online multiplayer mode! Test your mettle in four- to six-person death matches! Play as beloved characters from the franchise, use bioweapons to turn the tides of battle, and when you die, return as an enemy to defeat the remaining survivors.

Resident Evil Village excels in so many aspects and it follows the plot of Ethan Winter after Resident Evil 7. The graphics of the game are superb, the gameplay is amazing, the plot is well written, and the plot twist at the end of the game will simply astonish you. Thanks to the developers' usage of the Resident Evil Engine that they developed from Resident Evil 7, the game is very well optimized. You can easily run the game on high settings without having any performance issues if you have a decent setup. I am excited to what is next to come for the Resident Evil Village DLCs and what's to come in the Resident Evil franchise.

I can't properly say how much I've enjoyed every Resident Evil game since 7, which was the revival of the series and the ushering in of this new era of modern RE games. They have all been utterly excellent. The remake of RE2 was a masterpiece in my opinion. It is so refined in every area, the environment especially. But everything even several years on and several replays later is still so impressive. The enemy design, level progression, gun handling, and every gamer's favorite fast walker in a trench coat, Mr. X. There's so many things that make this game stand above other third person shooters, survival horror games, and arguably even the earlier classics in its own series. It is a masterclass of game design. To say I enjoyed Resident Evil 8 just as much would be an understatement, It's just as good in every area, if not better. And while it lacks compared to 2 in length or replayability, so do RE7 and the remake of RE3. But you'll have such a great time in just one run of this game it'll make up for that minor flaw and then some. I don't like hard games, and I normally don't do playthroughs again on the higher difficulties. I liked that first run so much I did it all again on standard and hardcore, and it even pushed me to replay the earlier 7, 2, and 3 on their other difficulty settings to experience what they had to offer as well. But like I said, you don't need to do play any previous game in the series or play this through more than once to be satisfied with the variety of content and the polish that is dripping off of every pixel of this game. Does it have the atmosphere of the Baker mansion? Maybe not, but even with a broader range of environments, each different area had me just staring at walls, floors, ceiling, and furniture, all things I'd hardly notice in any other FPS. Does it have the iconic villains like Mr. X and Nemesis from past two games? Lady Dimitrescu certainly has presence, and I wouldn't say she or any of the other lords are what you'd call forgettable. Does it have the pacing and variety to match Resident Evil 4, the fan favorite, and the one this game emulates in some areas? There are no companions to escort in this game, or jet skis, or harpoon rowboat boss fight. It might be the shorter game but in turn there's much less bloat and hardly anything you could say that could have been cut for length or pacing. It's not by any stretch of the imagination a perfect game, nor is it the best I've ever played. However, without a...

I throughly enjoyed this game, it was a mixture of the First Person RE7 that I also enjoyed combined with some new elements, one specific area took me back to the realm of silent hill, all and all the game was quite fun and has rekindled my interest in the RE franchise

Great continuation from the 7th game. Characters were interesting and had an overall good levels design. Interested to see what they do with 9.

Resident Evil Village is so charming that even an FPS hater like me loves it. Seriously, even if you don't like FPS but you like Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake, this game is still worth the full price. RE Village maintains the Horror atmospheric in RE7 and RE2 Remake, but it is also action packed like RE4 and RE3 Remake. The gameplay is fun. I especially like the diverse weapons and the upgrade options in the game. In this game, as you hunt down and obtain upgrades you really feel your character gets stronger, and it is very satisfying. The game also succeeded in making you feel like you are in danger all the time, and this makes you feel great when you do find a sanctuary and save point in the game. The experience is amazing and it is boosted by the game's fascinating bosses. Yes, the boss designs in RE Village are so cool, and each has an interesting back story and their personalities shine. The only downside in RE Village is the protagonist, Ethan Winter's character is a little bland, I think it is partially due to the game being an FPS and we can't see him or his face. But fortunately the bosses in the game are so cool and they make up for Ethan's lackluster characterization. Overall, I highly recommend RE Village. Especially if you recently jumped on the RE wagon from RE2 Remake and wanting to play more games in this franchise. This game is worth your time and money. I can't wait to play the next RE game. P.S. Although I love RE Village, but I do hope the next RE game will bring back our favorite 3rd person, over the shoulder camera. .

Best RE game I've played in the series. In a way it's brought back the original RE4 feeling which was my favorite. It's the sense of impending doom and horror and struggling to survive on what little resources you can find. It feels well balanced, not too difficult and not too easy. You can play it as a standalone, even though it's supposed to be a continuation of RE7. This game's world feels well fleshed out and well designed. It's really enjoyable to explore it, find secrets and make progress. Stunning visuals, truly bizarre creatures, a memorable parade of eccentric characters, and truly satisfying gameplay. Village is at once terrifying, exhilarating, hilarious, and beautiful.

If you loved RE7, you might like RE Village. I have completed the main story of RE Village around 9 hours. I personally enjoyed RE8 more.
