About Retrowave

About this game

Get off to the races with Retrowave from RewindApp.

Vibrant Synthwave Soundtrack

Retrowave is a captivating gaming experience that draws from the charm and nostalgia of the 1980s, presenting an idealised, futuristic interpretation of the era. The Synthwave / Retrowave soundtrack engulfs players in a sense of nostalgia, even for an era they've never personally experienced. The unique gameplay involves racing through different visually stunning worlds, first starting with one car, and gradually upgrading it or purchasing new ones with the money earned at the end of each run.

Retro-Futuristic Gaming Environment

The game boasts an array of features designed to enthrall players. These features include a collection of no less than 10 cars, each offering a unique driving experience. Furthermore, players can explore over 5 different universes, each meticulously designed, and engage in 4 different game modes. The game is set in a unique retro-futuristic atmosphere and is accompanied by a rich soundtrack of more than 45 different synthwave music tracks.

Challenging and Dynamic Gameplay

A significant aspect of Retrowave is the ability for players to customise and upgrade their vehicles. The game provides a comprehensive purchase system, allowing players to enhance car performance, introduce new colours, and even change wheels. This adds an element of progression and personalisation to the game, keeping gameplay engaging and addictive.

It's not special to me. Nothing new. Another game pretending to be retro

My inner 80's child is totally in love with this game. The colors, the aesthetic... the music! It even has music by Ninjacat <3 Go for a nostalgia ride. 10/10 worth it. And relaxing!

Retrowave is a simple game about driving cars and nearly avoiding them in a synthwave or 80's setting. The game has many modes that make the game more accessible and lets you play how you want with a fair amount of customizations. My gripe on this game is that the achievements are time wasteful and that to get them you might have to play through the game way more than the average player would want with the game.

This is the game for anyone who loves the vaporwave/retro-futuristic aesthetic and that's all you need. The gameplay is minimal in what you do, but I think that's the whole point of it. The soundtrack is phenomenal and it's a perfect game for late nights when you just want something to take your mind off things. It's super worth the price, even if you only ever play it once.

So simple and so addictive, it was love from the fist play. The only downside for me is that the game is playable with controller, but there's no settings for it in the menu. I hope they fix this with the next update and maybe new DLS's with more maps, cars and 80's music?

Nice game to spend a few minutes on here and there, nothing to capture your attention for longer though. The driving is okay but there are a few annoying decisions/ style choices that bug me. You can buy a police siren, in theory a nice touch but if you have to listen to the thing blase into your ears for the whole ride..? Ehhh no. Once you added the siren to a car there is also no way to remove it. The controls are often a bit janky and I cannot figure out why sometimes I crash when slightly touching a car, sometimes everything is fine, sometimes I start ramping over cars. There are also often situation where you HAVE TO crash because there are cars on all lanes and you can't get past them. Also a lot of gind for the better cars and some achievements.

So far, playing it has been really interesting. Although a simple game, the visuals and car selections are great. I went ahead and purchased the expansion pack as well. I love the retro 80's feel of this game.
