About RimWorld

About this game

Crash-landing on an unknown planet is the least of your worries in the 'Overwhelmingly Positive' Steam rated sci-fi strategy sim RimWorld. With this Steam key, players will build a colony from the ground up, exploring dangerous terrain to gain research, recruit new colonists and fight alien lifeforms and opposing factions.

STORY GENERATOR

Witness the tragic, twisted, and triumphant stories that RimWorld throws at you through the AI Storyteller. Choose your storyteller and experience unique and random events featuring imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, mass starvation, and survival of the fittest.

START SMALL, EXPAND

Turn your crew of crash-landed survivors into a vibrant colony by acquiring new people by any means necessary. Capture them in combat and force them to join your ranks if they want to survive, buy them from slave traders, or take in those willing to earn their keep in exchange for refuge

UNIQUE CITIZENS

Each individual that joins you will offer pros and cons to maintaining and expanding your colony. Choose a nobleman to recruit prisoners and negotiate trade prices, but be mindful that they will refuse to do physical work - choose a scientist to advance research, but expect them to perform social tasks well, or at all!

Watch on as your colonists determine how they will respond to other civilians - will they become starstruck lovers, marry the one, commit adultery, or fight like animals?

STUNNING WORLDS

See an awe-inspiring planet randomly generated from pole to equator. Decide where to crash land in a cold northern tundra, a parched desert flat, a temperate forest, or a steaming equatorial jungle. Each area has a variety of different animals, plants, and terrain as well as diseases, temperatures, mineral resources.

Form a caravan of people, animals, and prisoners and set out on a journey across the planet. Rescue kidnapped former allies from pirate outposts, attend peace talks, trade with other factions, attack enemy colonies, and complete other quests.

Pack up and move your colony as one big convoy and use rocket-powered transport pods to travel faster.

AT ONE WITH NATURE

Tame wild animals and turn them into lovable pets to help boost morale. Use farm animals for food and material supplies, and train beasts to attack your enemies. With everything from cats, dogs and chickens to grizzly bears, chinchillas and exotic alien lifeforms, players will find a variety of exotic wildlife.

MONITOR YOUR COLONY

Players' actions will have short and long-term effects on how the colony will respond and behave. Civilians who witness death, see unburied corpses or stay in the dark too long will feel disrespected, scared and anxious. High stress levels will result in fewer capable workers and the possibility of violent break-outs among your people.

Wounds, infections, prosthetics, and chronic conditions are tracked on each body part and will affect each character's capacities. Eye injuries make it hard to shoot or do surgery. Wounded legs slow people down.

Repair body parts with prosthetics ranging from primitive to transcendent. Go cheap and buy a wooden leg for your legless colonist to save money but slow the workforce down, or buy an expensive bionic leg to get them back in the fast lane.

Players can even extract, sell, buy, and transplant internal organs!

YOUR OFFICIAL RIMWORLD STEAM KEY GIVES YOU:

  • Open-world strategy
  • Overwhelmingly Positive Steam game experience
  • Sci-fi colony sim driven by an intelligent AI storyteller
  • Randomly generated worlds, lifeforms and conditions
  • Hundreds of wild and interesting mods on the Steam Workshop

This game is good right out of the box. This game is AMAZING when you start adding mods to it. There are literally 1000s of mods on steam workshop for this game. Very addictive game. The only negative I would add is when a major game update happens - modders have to update their mods which takes time. If you're here thinking about this getting this game - stop thinking and get it.

Rimworld is one of the best indie games that has been made. It has infinite replayability and there’s just something about it that makes you not want to put it down. It’s very much a make your own fun kind of game, but I also love that there is an end goal if you choose to work towards that and you can actually “beat” the game.

You can sink countless hours on just the base game. On top of that, there is Steam Workshop support integrated to add quality-of-life improvements and content for even more hours of fun! Dlc's are probably a must if you plan to sink hundreds of hours into this game.

Fantastic colony sim, endless replayability

Rimworld is a fantastic game, with an endless replay potential. You have plenty of content to try out in the base game, there are two thematic expansions, and full modding support (Ludeon forums and Steam workshop). Given how many scenarios you can try out and how many challenges you can take, the game will certainly be worth its price (especially on a deal).

Great game, but the 5 stars probably gives that away What I like most is the flexability the game gives you. Sure, you can turn the game into a war-crime simulator but that's up to player choice. You can play the game on hard difficulty with frequent pauses as a pseudo strategy game where every choice matters, or without pausing for a real time experience. Once you add all the great mods to the mix the amount of ways to play the game become near infinite. Even the experience of creating a mod could be considered a way of playing the game. RimWorld has great modding framework built in so I see the already great modding community continuing to grow pushing the base game in even more new directions.

An absolutely amazing game. It's ruthless, unforgiving, silly and an absolute joy to play. Your favorite colonist will get killed by a swarm of infected Yorkshire Terriers. It's run by developers who listen to the community and love their game. When you're bored of the base game it has an amazing modding community that gives unlimited replayability.

Fantastic game. Have dabbled in simulators over the years (had Sim City 2000 as a kid and, despite being awful at it even with cheats, sank hours into it) and this is one of the most robust I've ever tried. Huge amount of depth and have barely scratched the surface in the 30 hours I've sunk in. Still very accessible despite the complexity. The story telling element is not to be underestimated; I lost a colonist early (a few hours) in my first real playthrough and almost quit, I'd already become attached to the character. Great game.

I'm really enjoying playing this game. I tried a while back to get into Dwarf Fortress, and although I enjoyed the concept I found it very difficult to get into. Rimworld is far more accessible, and I'm really enjoying the interesting stories that are developing as I manage my colony.
