Shadows Awakening is a very cool RPG game with different characters to battle with all with their unique abilities.
The story is okay although at some points I did end up just skipping some of the dialogue, combat is pretty much point and click but once you unlock some of the characters you can start using some interesting combos.
The characters look cool and even the available equipment has some interesting designs, the game isn't particularly challenging and it's pretty easy to get your head around how to play and beat most enemies.
Overall Shadows Awakening is a simple yet very satisfying game to play, cool design, good voice acting and combat that's challenging enough not to be boring.

This is not an ARPG like Titan Quest and I love it.
I love the story telling and how the narrative makes use of the core mechanic of the game: the puppets, the Essence, and the Shadow.
I just love good stories, and this game have one for the main character you choose, but also for the world, for the area of the map, for some secondary (even optional) puppets.
It has an amazing variety of accents in the voice acting, which is very good, and very touchy for Evia, the fire mage. You really feel her determination, her rage and her mercy, and how deep she cares about others.
I like how the characters have a background, and a good narrative development throughout the game.
I didn't like not having a portal stone or some back-to-base teleportation method. That's basic QoL feature. Also, the inventory is clunky, a bit annoying, as well as everything in the character sheet... I mean the interface. It could have a more fluid one.

This didn't quite have the feel of an action RPG as I was hoping for. The skill tree is limited and heavily level gated, so you can't focus on the skills you want or care about, severely hampering your ability to make the character your own.
The randomness and diversity of items was also quite limited, and it was very rare to find an item to get excited about. A large part of the problem with items is that all the stats that can be found on items are found on essences, which are the equivalent of gems from games such as Diablo 2 and Torchlight 1 and 2. When an item is generated, it just has 1-4 essences pre-socketed in the item, giving the item it's stats. Which means you can find a grey, or base item, and spend a little gold to turn it into the highest tier item, an item with 4 essences socketed into it.
The last thing that hurt the game for me was the puzzles. Nothing disrupted the gameplay flow as much as the puzzles. These were not puzzles that requires creative thinking, but often were just trial-and-error memorization puzzles. They felt like they were just there to take up time.
