If you are a Star Wars fan you'll love this game. If you love Dragon Age and Mass Effect you my lucky gamer are in for a treat! Combining an exhilarating story with wonderfully written characters you'll get one of the most amazing games ever. Only adding to the vast mythos of Star Wars this game is a must. Plus with the remake coming you must play this game before that game makes it way to this current generation. Bit like the Dark Side of the force there are some negatives as well. The combat system is a dice roll meaning your attacks may not always land and spoiler alert you don't start off with a lightsaber right away. But be patient my gaming padawan it'll be yours before you know it. Also as this is almost 20 years old, the graphics are nothing special and occasionally you'll experience a glitch visually here or there but nothing game breaking! I might add playing the Light Side vs the Dark Side is your choice, but I find the Light Side Jedi choices/abilities are not nearly as fun as being an evil Sith force lightning all those who oppose you. Anyhow if you love choice and consequences you'll love SWKOTOR! If you don't, well fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and if you hate this game well its ok cause we all make bad decisions in life on occasion! That being said if you're a fan of the franchise stop whatever it is you're doing and play this Bioware masterpiece! Additionally melee attacks are the way to go in this game and equipping your main with guns or blasters is not nearly as fun even pre-lightsaber. But once you get the best weapon in maybe all of fiction well you're off and running! Finally while it maybe a first generation Xbox game it still holds up extremely well today despite the few negatives! Thanks and seeing as this is my first review of a game ever I thank you for your time and hope you find this game as amazing as I have! Take care and may the (Gaming) Force Be With You!

- Introduction - It is 2021 and this game is still as great of an RPG as it was in 2004. It is just a classic RPG in a great world of Star Wars. I must say that for me KOTOR I and KOTOR II are the best Star Wars games. ! Good things ! In the first part of the game I liked how game recognized the Sith disguise and made every NPC act accordingly. I like the story in this game as it is well made and there are many dialogues and options for you to pick your responses and how to complete the quests. I also loved how all of our companions have their own story and attitude and the way in which they see the world. It is nice how the more you talk to them the more they open up and you get to know the world more by their stories. I like that there is a main quest but there are also many side quests you can do and you can finish most of them in 2 or more different ways and that ways also sometimes gives you different rewards and can even made some of your companions like you more or dislike you and they will also comment on how you completed the mission if they are in your party at that time. The combat is more on the old RPG side but that is why I like it. You can pause during the game to issue commands to your party and pick your actions. I also loved that all your enemies just use the same skills and have the same feats your party can learn. There were no strange things that enemies can do but no one in your party can and that was very important to me as that made the world be consistent and it mean that everyone in this world have to play by the same rules. I also love how you need to think about what feats you want to pick and the equipment for everyone in your party as all of them are useful so you want all of them to get the best items they can use. It was also great that with each new level you really do feel more powerful so the levels really do mean a lot and are not just a bunch of random bonuses that mean nothing compared to enemies stats as in some games. It was also important for me to finish this game two times to see the different consequences of my actions both in main quest and in side quests. It was really great to see how many NPCs fates changed based on my decisions, how some of them died because of this and how the fates of whole planets were changed by the decisions I made. Your choices can have a really far reaching consequences and one of them can even change the medkits prices for the whole galaxy. ! Bad things ! There are some...

Buy it now, beat it, then buy the remake.

Pan Dimensional Being
I played this repeatedly on the original disc release before I even had a Steam account so my hours in game are a lot higher than shown here. I've never been the biggest Star Wars fan, but this game is one of the best RPGs ever made. It is massive, the characters are great, the gameplay is fun, the battles are challenging and still entertaining, the fact that you can play good or evil adds replayability, the fact that you can hack systems to bypass fights is brilliant, your choice of characters gives you a lot of range, the story keeps you locked in, there's no end to the exploration... there's just too much good in this game. One drawback is I feel like there's really only 3 attacks you can do for "guns" and three for "swords", but the skills you can use in game to unlock doors, overload terminals, and puzzle your way through many areas means it's not just a slash, shoot, repeat kind of game. If you like Star Wars extended lore then of course this is a must own. If you like exploring and dungeon crawling in a sci fi environment then this is a must own. If you like an RPG where your choices have an effect on the characters and story then this is one of the originals and you must own it. The only reason not to run through this game at least once is if you just really hate RPGs, Star Wars, or fun.
