About STARFIELD

About this game

It's been 25 years since fans of Bethesda got a new universe to explore, but the wait is over! In Starfield, players will explore the far reaches of space in the year 2330 as they join Constellation, the last group of space explorers looking for rare artefacts throughout the galaxy.

Always In Control

Like Bethesda's other best-selling titles, you have control. Female, male, blonde, brunette... it's all customisable! How the characters look and who they are is up to you.

Resourceful

In Starfield, the planets offer many resources to collect so that you may upgrade your gear and modify your weapons to be battle-ready for the next big fight!

Make It Yours

Characters aren't the only customisable in Starfield, as it wouldn't be a complete galactic experience without a vessel. Not only will you be able to customise the exterior and interior of your spaceship, but also upgrade it so that it's ready to take straight into real-time space combat!

The Galaxy Is Yours

Once you've made your character and readied your ship, it's time to explore the countless planets and environments available! From rocky moon surfaces to colourful and strange wildlife: Starfield invites everyone to explore the over 1,000 planets!

Starfield isn't a bad game but it's not good either, It's mediocre. The story isn't anything special and the character's aren't memorable. It feels like you're playing Fallout 4 in terms of combat/movement (a game that released 8 years ago). A lot of planets seem empty and there's not a lot to do for the first 1/3 of the game. It definitely picks up later in the game. Visually, it looks great, but gameplay wise, it's an outdated, Bethesda game (not in a good way). Bethesda clearly played it safe and haven't tried anything new. Also, you need a NASA computer if you want to run this game on high settings. If you're a space nerd, you'll probably enjoy starfield. But If you're like me and just want an enjoyable RPG experience, skip this one, it's boring. If you want to spend your money on a newly released RPG, try out Baldur's gate 3 or cyberpunk 2077 (v2.0). Thanks for reading.

Starfield is a mediocre, poorly conceived mess of a game, produced by a big studio who simply no longer cares about it's loyal player base, and who simply lie and use shill media reviewers to prop up a product that is a sad shadow of it's earlier efforts. Don't fall for Bethesda's lies. The game has none of it's earlier games fun free wheeling exploration- instead it's endless loading screens and no real space adventuring. Where the game Star Citizen offers real planetary travel seamlessly from planet to planet with real feeling physics and no loading screens from space to ground level, Star Field is a 1990s throwback in technology that uses primitive loadscreens and "walls" on planets that stop the player from venturing out in a realistic manner. It's quite awful and quite opposite of what Bethudsa advertised. The game has already collapsed in PC player numbers, with Baldur's Gate III keeping in the top four games, while Starfield languishes already in the 30s amd 40s amongst the top played games. For a game that supposedly has huge replayability- this is a dreadful bust of a game, and it's due to the top management at Bethesda's awful decision making along with their tendency to go cheap and use the old cliched assets and systems from their past games, along with just plain abysmal writing. When you consider the money and power Bethesda wields, it's the most disappointing game of the year.

First of all, just a few specs. I'm using a Asus G713RS ROG Strix laptop, AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX w/nVidia 3080 graphics and 32gigs of RAM. I am running the game on a Samsung 990 Pro SSD which I installed a few days ago. I've only got about 10-15 hours or so into the game and tbh, Bethesda has a hands down winner! I have been waiting for a game like this since Fallout 4. The storyline is really good so far, interacting with the game world on all levels is amazing. Graphics are beautiful-even without mods. I have had 'zero' crashes, freezes or glitches at all and now-a-days that's pretty impressive for a new release game, even if they've only been working on it for 20 years...lol This is going to be a 'long haul' game for sure. At this point I have nothing negative to say about it. It's got all the RPG elements I've been looking for, along with flying and customizing your own ship. Looking forward to that and building on my character as well.

Sadly, this game has some bugs, some that even cause the game to crash, or saves to get corrupted. In addition, a lot of the worlds are barren, lifeless. There's not a whole lot of fun to be found here. At the very least, some of the environments look nice.

Boring and repetitive. With a 100 planets to explore or whatever, to fill the space, dungeon layouts are repeated, the exact layout... Enemy variety is limited.

This is a surprisingly bad Bethesda game. Depending on how much of a "Gamer" you are, you can have more fun with it, and less. The length of the rose-colored glasses time depends heavily on you seeing repetitive content, understanding how procedural generation can be used well (unlike in this game), and how many samey spots of interest you can bear. The game is empty. The UI is terrible. The only long-term goal is grinding your skills (which are ordered terribly too), and getting better ships - Which, by the way, is also locked behind skills. Outposts are a tedium piece of work that is even less fun and less worth it than this games Fallout predecessor. Granted, the game has two things that are fun that make me give it two stars: The ship building (minus all the pre-reqequisites, and mostly missing content for doing ship stuff with), and the gunplay somewhat. There has been better gunplay, but for Bethesda it actually is good and there is no denying that. Nevertheless, this game is just not worth the money. It's been nearly 6 months since release, and the patches have been an utter disappointment. This is a procedural generated mess with near-zero amount of good game design in it. An utter disappointment. Also, the companions suck ass. And on top of that, they are not even consistent! Before I can do action X or Y in the story, they tell me that doing X is the wise option. I take the wise option because I think so too - Then they chastise me for taking the X action. Absolutely ridiculous; Clearly the writers did not even talk to each other. If the Bethesda itch is scratching you, just buy another Skyrim remake and be better off. Sadly.

The game is one you can either put over a hundred hours in or just over 30 depending on if you want to do most things or just the story. The level progression is well done, with you starting out with little skills and ending with you getting to be more skillful than previous Bethesda game npc. This fact you need to use skills to unlock higher levels is really nice. The companions are ok, not on the level of FO 3 or New Vegas, but that is hard to be. Overall it is fun, with bugs and odd behaviors in place. Downsides are that space battles start stupidly hard above normal, like be prepared to lose if you are average like me. The worlds won't have much outside the immediate landing zone area, and some things are a bit tedious such as taking all flora and fauna. Now if you excuse me I'm about to play more.

A lot of people say it's not a bad game and I don't understand why. What would you call a game that is a complete waste of time? The story is absolutely terrible, worldbuilding is stupid, characters obnoxious and annoying, gameplay extremely repetitive and boring, aesthetics? "alexa design a sci-fi world". The map is not massive because the game always procedurally generates a small map with varying parameters, but its never interesting or fun to explore. Its a fundamentally shallow, boring, repetitive, disinteresting experience and no amount of updates can fix it without rebuilding the whole game from the ground up.
